Microsoft is going crazy trying to get an update out for Windows Media Player. Someone finally hacked the digital rights, so now you can copy music and movies that you download from movielink and amazon. Crazy stuff! Here's an article:

I just wish they would make a version of media player that was user friendly and didn't crash all the time.

I don't have any problems at all with media player (now watch it blow up on me LOL). Someone once told me it was because I have DSL, is that true?

Doesn't really matter what speed internet you have. The feeds work faster with a faster net speed. I haven't had any problems with windows media player either, unless you're talking about codec problems, but all you have to do is fine the right one and download it. Mine will probably fry on me too! Oh well......

I use VLC media player for just about all my media player needs. It is open source software, something that I endorse and use whenever possible.

5 linux boxes here, one dual CPU proxy server, three test monkeys, dual boot my laptop. Sourceforge turns up quite often.
I prefer Kaffeine media player, but I don't know if they have a Windows port.

a bit melodramatic, but accurate perspective of Digital Rights Management, the content protection found on quite a bit of your purchased downloaded music. This is the reason the hack J posted about exists.
Buy it, pay for it, can't listen to it if you don't have backups of the license and something happens to your PC.

You can find alot of programs to interchange with by going to majorgeeks.com . Always keep you pc on top of things with the up to date security software,or always check for updates for your security software. Our pc is like a car it needs routine maintenance (such as cleanup ,system defrag ) Watch sharing anything such as messenger services or free music sharing as this can crash your system. Hope this information can be helpful.

people defrag your disk drives and do a diskcheck. It's easy to set these up to do automatically on a regular schedule and they keep your computer running faster and more efficiently.
