Fred's
I heard on the radio yesterday they were having their grand opening at Fred's. I haven't had a chance to make it by there yet and was wondering how the store was? I hope it stays stocked better than Wal-Mart. Some people were just in the shop this past week talking about the difference between the Thomasville Wal-Mart and this one. So what do u all think about Fred's?
You wouldn't worry so much about what people thought of you if you knew how seldom they did.

Many people who remember the old Fred's store in downtown Demopolis was glad to see it return. Not being familiar with the Fred's stores I see it as another variation of the Dollar General and Family Dollar stores already located in Demopolis. Fred's has it's own name on many of the items they sell as well as name brands. Many times the formulations of the store brands are about the same as name brands. Small stores like Fred's are great for our senior citizens and others who have difficulty walking who need to shop for essential items but do not want to navigate around a store as big as the Wal-Mart Supercenter. I was there Friday for the Grand Opening just to check it out and yes I did find some bargains on a few items.

I am not sure about the Fred's opening up there, but I do know all the ones in our area are jumping on the $4.00 generic prescription drug bandwagon. This should really help out people. I would imagine they would start it there before the Wal-mart does so that they could pick up a good customer base for the pharmacy before Wal-Mart implements it's $4.00 generic program nationwide.

We went to Fred's yesterday and got a really good deal on a few things!
The cashiers were very nice which is alot more than you can say for MOST of the Wal-Mart cashiers. I didn't get to look at everything because it was crowded and I was getting run over by everyones buggies. It is very small and hard to get around when crowded! Hope they do great! It is nice to have new stores coming into our area!

Since I was in town, I went last night just for a peak. I did not buy anything this time but was basically just comparing it to some of the other Fred's stores that I've visited lately. It was neat and clean and a couple of the employees did speak.

I used to manage the Freds store that was on Straberry St. downtown. When the first Walmart came to town they gave us a hard time and took alot of our customers. You cant compete with Walmart if you are a small company. You just have to offer the people that come into your store a good product and a good price. People will shop with Freds if they can go into the store and get good service and people that will help them. Big stores now want you to wait on yourself. Sometimes people need help. I worked in several retail stores and know how to treat people when they came into my store. Be nice to them and they will come back. My boss allways told me if you miss one sale that you will never get that sale back. I hope Freds does good in Demopolis!!

I have always liked to shop in Fred's, and it does seem that every Fred's is too small. Sometimes it is hard to get around if there are alot of customers in the store. I have found that they offer good bargains. I love the one in Butler and I will have to come to the one in Demopolis soon.

I love Fred's! The one in Butler brought Butler back to life! You can go into that store and find some of the same things that you see in a Pier One. I especially like to look around in the "home furnishings" section. I have gotton some really cool things outta the one in Butler! I have to believe that the one in Demopolis will out shine the one in Butler.... Cannot wait to check it out!
