I remember hearing my parents talk of this & I think I might have even seen it in the paper. However, I was 12 at the time & the news probably went in one ear & out the other.

I was 14 at the time. If I remember correctly 1979 was one of the Tombigbee flood years. Notice how high the water is on the Rooster Bridge. Sad...I miss that old rattle-trap bridge.

I also remember riding over that old bridge with my Grand Daddy one time. We met another car and my GDaddy lost his side mirror. LOL

I remember the bridge only to well even the time a log truck wrecked a car and I believe their were 7 people killed in that wreck not positive of that numbe rbut almost!!!
