Hi Everyone!
I was just wondering who on DemopolisLive went to Marengo Academy...If you did, what year did you graduate in? I am a MAL survivor that graduated in '93.
I am a 1979 graduate of MA - back when they had a terrific band

The band was getting close to non-existent when I graduated and now they don't even have one.

I am a '93 grad also. I was in the band too, from 7-12, which means I saw the good (Mr B), the bad(*), and the just plain ugly(**)!
Breaks my heart to see it gone like that. Kids today don't even know what they are missing.
*,** Names withheld to protect me from former band directors...

I can't remember who was band leader besides Mr. B!! How sad is that?

That woman was band leader, Suzy was her name I think. I can't remember. Mr B let me be a part of the band and I never played an instrument OOPS I say I was talented enough to be in the band without an instrument. I was there for like three years would have been class of 95 had I not wanted to party in Demo.

They went thru 4 that I remember after Mr B left. I was in there from 87-93, so I had to have known you, AliMc1977. On the other hand, I could be obscenely shy sometimes when I was younger, still now at times, so...
We had one director for about a week. Barely made it out of band camp before she left or was canned, depending on who is telling the story.

Well I was never a shy one. You probably do know me.
Mr. B airbrushes t-shirts at Souvenire City in Gulf Shores now - he is still fun to talk to... showing his age some though. Man, we had some fun with him back in those days and it was cool to be in the band back then...He is the only director I ever had.

I wondered if he was still doing that. We really missed him when he left.

Meri, do you still live in the Linden area?
Next door to my parents on the dead end street...give me a hint who you are....

My brain can not even think where the dead end street is...
I live between Linden & Thomaston right past the airport.
By the ballfields behind the church - Center ave... do you work at a bank?

I used to work at the bank...I have been gone from there for 2 years...I live just next door to the one that works at the bank in Linden...Well, i know where you live now...is your parents house rather big?
Really big - too big for the two of them and too many steps - it's split level - trying to talk them into selling and buying a one-level home for moms sake. She is 75 and dad will be 80 this year.
I know who you live by but will have to ask when I get home who you are next door...your neighbors kid pitched a great game or two in the ball tourney...I understand she just picked up a ball about 2 wks ago and decided to give it a try... wow... my kid has practiced for 3 years and throws 48 mph but can't get the accuracy down...it's frustrating.

I believe my cousin graduated around that time. Her name was Renae Averette. She is Renae Johnson now.

I know Renae...I lived not too far from her when we were growing up. She is a year or two older than me. Do they live in Demopolis now?

in that case you would know me, Buttercup, & AliMc1977...give us some kind of clue as to who you are.
Just a little older than ya'll, MA grad in 1987. Played ball but do remember Mr. B and his great band very well; he lived just a few houses down from where I grew up. Since the fire Renee's mother still lives in the same place just a new brick house right behind where the old one was.

I was involved in a hunting accident my sophomore year (1991-1992). That should tell everyone on here who I am. Now how about some clues or pm's from the rest of you. AliMc1977 you were in the same class as my first cousin and hometowngal you were in the same class as another first cousin of mine.
