Alabama Unclaimed Property
Could the State of Alabama being holding money that belongs to you?

Today i was doing an address search and found an interesting website, which ultimately led me to the Alabama Unclaimed Property website. After checking my own name, I entered one letter into the name box and then entered Demopolis in the city box. I was very surprised to see that there are alot of people here that have unclaimed property on this site.

(by entering just one letter in the name box and entering the city it will pull up every last name beginning with that letter)

A sample of some of the names on that list:

Hill
Shipp
Holifield
Lankster
Bassett

even businesses were listed:
John Essex
Hwy 80 Texaco
Jones Building Supply

My Mom actually claimed something off of this site a few years ago. It was some type of insurance refund.

I had a friend who did this type of research. They found a $300,000 unclaimed annuity on her deceased father in which her mother was the beneficiary. Ironically, they had divorced ten years earlier, but he never changed the policy!!!!

Finding Money
I know there is another thread kinda like this one but I thought some of you would be interested in this. I was looking through a Sumter Co news paper over the wekend and read an article, about unclaimed property, that was put out by the Alabama Treasury. It listed a web site that we could check to see if they were holding any money that belonged us. My wife and I both did a name search and although I found nothing on my name, my wife found that she had a claim greater than $100. It dosen't give exact amounts. All she had to do was enter her name and address and the treasury dept is mailing the claim forms to her. the web site is www.treasury.alabama.gov check it for yourself you may be suprised like us.
Fat people are harder to kidnap!!!
