I thought this thread might be appropriate with all the talk lately about the "scale back Alabama" program. I am very excited about the approval of this drug because I think it will help many overweight people and also open the door for more and better drugs of its kind.
Since the news hit that the first FDA approved over the counter drug used for weight loss had hit the market, I have been reading nothing but negative press. So called "experts" are warning consumers that the drug is ineffective and could cause more harm if used.
I just wanted to offer a testimonial in favor of alli. I took the drug for 6 months under a doctors supervision and lost 75 pounds. It may not be a miracle pill but it was a miracle for me.
When my weight started dropping, people would ask me "how are you doing it?" I would tell them about the drug Xenical (same as alli, higher strength) and some of them went and got it and had terrible results. You see, if you don't change your eating habits it gives you screaming, uncontrollable diarrhea. Everyone I talked to with negative comments admitted that they didn't change what they ate. Alli will only work in conjunction with a low fat diet.
The reason it worked for me is because it brought about accountability with a capital A. Fear of losing control of your bowels in public was just the right motivator to help me say no to all the wrong foods. It also set in place habits which have kept me very close to my initial loss for over three years. I still have a ways to go to get to my initial "goal" loss of 100 pounds but without the Xenical, I don't believe I would have ever gotten to where I am now without bariatric surgery. I would encourage anyone who is extremely to morbidly obese (especially if you have tried everything) to give Alli a try. And, if you have any questions about the drug feel free to pm me and I will gladly share any advice about the drug, eating healthy or exercise.
