Swedish Name Approval

In Sweden, apparently you have to register and have approval for the name you give your baby, which can be rejected by the Swedish National Tax Board.

After I got over being amazed at the level of government intrusion they have there, I started thinking how a law like that would play in, oh, say.. Greene County. Can you imagine how many angry parents there would be? If "Metallica" is too odd a name, what would the Swedish Tax Board make of "QwinDar'rion"?

When I was selling shoes for a living, I would talk to the kids and parents as I was working in fitting them. I encountered some very interesting names. One that will always stick out in my mind were the identical twin boys with the names Jonathan and JoNathan, spelled the exact same way but pronounced differently. I believe it was Sweden when they royal family was having trouble naming there daughter Leah(like in Star Wars), it could have been somewhere else, one of those random things that I have read and filed in my brain.

While doing taxes for a living teaches one many things, it has given me a great appreciation for this Swiss Tax Board. It is really amazing some of the names that children have now. LOL
