Tick problem

I was not sure where to post this, so I decided to put it here.

I need some help! I have been working out in the yard for the past several days, and I have noticed that there are many ticks getting on me. Most of them are the little, tiny ones that are hard to see unless in the bright light. I need to know what I need to get to put in the yard to kill those little blood suckers! I have some kitty cats outside, and I treat them with frontline. There are no ticks on them. It didn't get really cold enough (for a long enough period of time) for all the ticks to die.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. I want to do some more work in the flower beds, but am not fond of the body search that is needed when I finish the yard work. Thanks for your help.

I'm a new soul!

Re: Tick problem

We use Sevin's dust. It is available at Wal-Mart and you put it out like you would fertilizer or grass seed...just sprinkle it or use a spreader. You have to water the grass afterward and not let you or your animals out there again until it dries. The directions on the bag are very specific. It is very reasonably priced and it works! Hope this helps!

Re: Tick problem

Seven dust is just one of many choices you have. Just go to Wal-Mart, the nearest Co-op in Butler and you can read on the bags what they treat and how and when to apply. You can read until your heart or head is content.

Re: Tick problem

If you have someone spray your home they have a good spray they can use in the yard also. Other wise the advice above is good. LOL!

Re: Tick problem

I have had the same problem with ticks on our property for a number of years. I actually called the Alabama Extension Service and Mississippi State both suggested that the most effective way to ward off ticks was to wear some sort of insect repellant and treat animals with frontline. Ticks climb on to weeds, brush, trees, and bushes to attach to a passing host in order for a pesticide to work effectively you would need to spray everything head high or lower.
