Ok, rootsandwings posted a thread a few days back about saving internet videos to your PC. There were only a few replies & now I'm trying to figure out how to save videos from youtube.com. Do you have to be a member of the site to save videos to your PC? Just curious to know if anyone can explain this in "simple" terms? Right-clicking on the videos does not offer the "save" command.

I'm running MS Internet Explorer ver. 6.0 w/ SP2 & I'm not too interested in downloading another browser at this time.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I am a member at youtube, and I have no problems saving videos to my computer. I don't know if being a member is what makes me possible to save them, or if it is my system that I have running. I have windows xp.

You could try joining the site and see if that will allow you to save the videos. Other than that, someone much more "computer smart" than I am will have to help you out.

Thanks, RhondaRoo. I am going to try that with godtube.com - which is what I was working on! Let you know in a minute if it lets me!

http://www.youtubex.com/ Might be helpful.

In "simple" terms, youtube and similiar videos were designed to be streamed from the net, not actually saved to computers. The format used to broadcast the videos is a flash format, not .avi, .rm, quicktime, mpg, etc. There are programs available to extract the .flv file (youtube video file) but you'll need a .flv player to play it. Yes you can set up a free account, but I don't think I did, The embeded code is listed on the right hand side of the screen under the URL, just rightclick on the embeded code to select it and copy, then paste it in the tool box of your media, embeded code only and it should save. I have a hard time explaining things about how to run a computer, but I can show you better. It took me awhile, and now it's easy, ..... Just like Hookers on Phonics!LOL

I've tried to put things from godtube on here also. I don't think (correct me if I'm wrong) this site allows anything but youtube. I even tried to save it to photobucket and it just wouldn't work.
So if there is a way, I hope we can find it.

I've heard about this one, but haven't tried it yet.

There are a few other ways, but this is a quick answer. :)
