I really need some help! The advertisements on websites that are showing on my computer are horrible and vulgar! I do not go to porn sites, but I'm being assailed with porn just on the advertisements of otherwise benign sites. I can't stand this. Somebody please tell me how to stop this! Thanks so much.

Had the same problem when I switched ISP (Internet Service Provider)...I thought that was odd. Try this link to free anti-virus and anti-spam software. Haven't had a problem since. Just remember to put it on "automatic update".

One problem with this program is that when it is updating, the program really slows down your computer for about an hour. I usually let it update while I'm doing something else around the house.

I would advise two things.

First, www.avast.com (http://www.avast.com) - Download their free Antivirus software (which also takes care of spyware and malware). Make sure you uninstall any existing antivirus software you currently have before you install Avast. After install, it will ask if you want to run a one time boot time scan, say YES and restart.

Second, Download Firefox (http://www.firefox.com)

Third, after installing Firefox, Run it and Go here and install the Adblock Plus extention. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865)

Fourth, Go here to install the Adblock Filterset Updater (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1136)

Say goodbye to about 98% of all the ads you see on the web.

Thanks Brian and Kagan. I like to surf the net with my kids, and these ads are making that impossible.

Brian - I downloaded the adblockers for Firefox. Very cool! Any other neat add-ons to Firefox you can share? Thanks.

Since I downloaded firefox, I do not have this problem no more. Every now and then may sneak it way on my email. But it is nothing like it use to be. Maybe three since I downloaded about a year ago.
