more computer help needed

All of a sudden, I have no sound on my computer. One time it works, next it doesn't. I've checked the volume & mute choices everywhere I know to look. I've tried shutting it off. Any suggestions? Please help. It's driving me crazy. It's done it one time before. I shut it off and told my son to check it out. He booted it up and it worked fine. Now it's doing it again.

Alamanda...I'm no Computer Tech by any means...but...have you checked your speaker connections...or the wires may be shorting out..Or even the speaker connection inside your computer is going bad....Try a new set of speakers (or borrow some)..if that doesn't work....I dunno....Hope I helped!

If you have a mute button make sure its not on.

I've tried the mute button and the speaker connections. I haven't tried swapping them but they are just a couple of years old. That might be a start, thanks.

You probably need to reinstall the audio driver. Go to your device manager and see if the audio has a yellow exclamation point next to it. If so, then the driver isn't working. If you don't know how to get into the device manager or how to reinstall the driver, PM me and I'll help.
