I have tried everything I know but I can not get the internet icon to come up in the tool bar. I have to unplug the phone to get offline. The connection page comes up but it is for connect only, no disconnect button.
In XP:
Goto START-->My Network Places. Click on "View Network Connections. You should see the dial-up connection there. Right-click that and select "properties". At the bottom you should see a checkbox that says "show icon in notification area when connected". Check that box and hit "OK".
See if that gets it down there.
