Snowshoe WV...the coldest place on earth
A few of the area church's youth groups are here at Snowshoe WV. Before we left, a friend of mine told me this was the coldest place on earth. He did not lie. At 7 am today at the top of the mountain it was 0 and at the bottom of the mountain it was 3 above. All afternoon we skied with it in the teens and the wind blowing a smooth 30 mph. We are currently under a winter storm warning and will probably wind up with nearly a foot of snow over these two days. They are predicting wind chills well below zero tonight. I have never been so cold in my life.

On another note, there was some difficulty getting here and one person had a accident on the road. His truck has some serious damage, but everyone is unharmed. I repeat no injuries. I wont mention any names and the truck is drivable.

I want everyone who will to say a prayer that we all stay safe on the roads Friday. The weather is supposed to be much better for our trip home. Needless to say the roads are terrible from where we are to about 60 miles back toward home. Some of the other groups will also be traveling either Saturday or Sunday, please think of them also.

Glad to hear that ya'll are having a really "cool" time as it were!! Take care of our Linden babies! Gosh, it sounds like we're having a heat wave compared to your group! Right now, at my house, my trusty James Spann therometer says it is 35 degrees. Brrrr for me, double Brrrr for you all! I have put away my birkies for the next little while!~ Have a great time and stay warm.

One of the years that I went with the group from church when we pulled in the first night, there was no snow on the ground at all (off the slopes where they weren't making it.) When we got up the next morning there was a nice 8 inches all around that had fallen during the night. Of the 3 times I went, only once ws it cold enough for me to need my heavy ski jacket. Sorry its so cold on you this year...Take care!

My little girl is with your group. When she called today, she named several body parts that she can't feel! She also said she is a horrible skier. I'm SO thankful that everyone is unharmed after the accident. I'm definitely praying for a good experience for all and a safe trip home. Take care of those babies, and thanks!

My son, Cody, is with this Linden group. He was in the truck that wrecked. He called though, and said everyone was okay. He mentioned having a "strawberry" on his back, and my suitcase was a mess.,but other than that, everything was fine. I told him to forget about the case, just wanted him to be alright.
I hope everyone has a great time. Hopefully the ride home won't be quite as bad.

My son was in the wreck also. I have talked to Bro. David and he said everyone was fine. Brad was nice enough to let him use his phone last night, but I missed his call. Everyone please pray for their safe return home Friday.

I'm here now and I have to say I dont' think I have ever seen a more beautiful place in my entire life!! I've taken tons of pictures and will post them once I'm back...Brad wasn't kidding, but cold isn't the word for it..haha..and BRRRRRRRRRRR is most definately correct..but it's worth it..man this place is amazing!! Think of a fairy tale and multiply that time 1,000!! everything is just picture perfect..I'm just in awww of everything..everyone is having a blast...!!
You wouldn't worry so much about what people thought of you if you knew how seldom they did.

It is an beautiful place! You can feel the work of the Lord all around you, but yes it is cold. I hate that I was not able to make the trip because my fellowship with those younguns' is more of a blessing than anything else in my life (Brad and Teach11's daughters are 2 of the biggest joys in my life.), but I am so glad everyone had a great time and glad everyone is back home safe and sound. I would like to thank the chaparones because not many were willing to minister to these teenagers. God bless!
