Class Reunions
Many people avoid attending high school class reunions for various reasons. Many don't attend because they feel they may not have been as successful in life than some of their classmates. Others may have put on some more weight or don't look as good as they used to. Still others have reasons like they have moved too far away, can't take time off from work, spouse don't want them to go and many more.

My school holds a monthly reunion meeting in Hoover once a month. I have been meaning to attend one for several months. In December they had a special meeting for the holiday season. I wish now that I had taken the time to attend. I received word today that one of my classmates was able to attend our reunions for the last time. We were good friends in school but have not seen each other for forty years. Now I won't ever see him again. A notice on our school website says that it will just a matter of days before he loses his battle with cancer. A picture of him and his sister at the December meeting was posted. I would have not known him if he had passed me on the street. Cancer has taken such a toll on him so much my wife guessed his age to be about seventy. He is my age, 57.

Many notices of class reunions have been posted to this site. Next time there is a reunion for your class please make it a point to attend. Who knows, it may be the last opportunity to see some old friends. I wish I had attended our December reunion.

I am so sorry you missed your friends visit. I know I dreaded my 20th. I was so scared to be fat girl at party! We I sucked it up and went! I had the best time! ! Saw so many I keep in touch with regularly and we had a blast! I cant wait for another! My graduating class was 22 people! How hard can it be to get together?? Yall can go to It only hurts in anticipation Never in the fun and enjoyment of the situation!

Our 20-year reunion (DHS Class of '81) was tremendous! I had grown since I left school, but it was still good to see everyone, and in general, people are happy to see classmates, no matter what they look like! I was sad that some of our class didn't make it, but I was glad to see those who did.

We have a very good website for my old school. Someone posts the school picture of the attendees of those who attended the last reunion luncheon as well as a photo of them taken at the meeting. After looking at the "now" pictures I can say I aged better than most of them. Some of the girls who looked great in school sure didn't age well. Wolf! Wolf! Many of the skinny, mop-headed boys are now fat and bald. Just plan on attending a school reunion whenever you can because everyone has aged in some way or other.

The older you get, the more you realize that people stop trying the sillly competitions and enjoy being together again. We all have problems, but those years in school together give us a wonderful comradary for life.
