I agree paddling is a necesary part of education. Especilly when they are young, when it can actually be effective. I wouldn't begin to judge this particular case with the Curtis's, but I can assume if your butt is paddles twice n 2 days your gonna prob bruise some. Maybe they should have just suspended him instead of spanking him the second time.

I'm not real sure how I take it. As a kid I really did't get many spankings, but I really did't have to. Not because I was a model kid or anything, but because all my father had to do was look at me or raise his voice a little and I would be scared straight. The other would be showing disappointment in me. A lot of kids today don't really care how their parents think about them, and that is a big problem. Parents have to start the discipline at home!! Teachers in school today do more babysitting then teaching, weather it be for a third grade class or even a senior class. I will tell you this though, if I got a paddling in school, the response from my parents were not going to blame the school, but me!
I agree with most everything you guys have said. For my full view, see my post in the news section. I think that there is'nt enough of paddleing. A teacher does'nt want to have to resort to this punishment. Like my parents use to tell me. I'm punishing you because I love you. The teachers care about the student by giving the proper punishment.
In all my time at Westside and US Jones, I deserved every spanking I got. If corporal punishment is banned from school, I hate to see the fallout. What we'll have is either students with no disipline running the teachers, or a very high increase in student suspended or expelled.

We are from the south. A place where you're supposed to say yes'mam, no sir, hold the door open for ladies and old folks, and get a spanking when you misbehave. Getting paddlings in school didn't seem to hurt our parents, us , or our children. Why should it all of a sudden be such a big issue? If a child misbehaves badly enough at school the issue shouldn't be the bruises they receive there, it should be the ones they are NOT receiving at home!

I have to say, although I'm still in favor of paddlings in school, these pics make it obvious to me that something. The only bruising I've ever seen in my years as a nurse that were this bad were the result of either someone on anticoagulants(blood thinners) or someone that has sustained a serious injury. You should remember a paddling, not carry around evidence of it for 2 weeks.

After veiwing the pictures, I still stick to what I have already said. I would NEVER NEVER post pictures of my childs rear for everyone to see. Something is wrong here. The investigation may need to start at home. Why do this to your child? Plus, some people bruise easier than others. My mother would bruise if we looked at her too hard. Its sad that the whole city of Demopolis has to be drug into this situation.
