I've often thought that the French were a little off. Dad even says, "Napoleon got out the goodie out of those people." Yet, the best statement in the article is as follows:

Funny... reading Les Miserables... all 1500 pages of it made me really appreciate "old French culture." I saw a lot of "US" in it... but I guess that's possible for anyone. The book is epic and universal...anyone can relate to it. And Kagan, there's like a 40 page chapter on Waterloo .. in a fictional novel!!! just for one little plot twist opener at the end of those long 40 pages...
