The City Demopolis City Council approved last Thursday a one-time appropriation of $2000.00 for the Tiny Tiger football league. This stems from the league’s director, Perry Little, having multiple requests for cash. He stated at Thursday’s meeting that the last weeks rent on the use of Memorial Stadium would have to come out of his own pocket. In a past meeting with the Council, Little stated he misjudged the amount of revenue moving the games to the stadium would bring the league. He thought concession stand sales would cover the cost of renting the stadium, which is currently $500.00 a week. The league has a 10 week season. Why not just give them $500.00 then? I have a simple solution for this problem---Pay the rent in full at the beginning of the year. If uniforms, equipment, etc. aren’t covered by sponsors, get some sponsors!! If your out of money and cannot have the games, then either raise the money or call the season off. There are plenty of youth sports leagues in Demopolis these kids could be participating in that don’t have these kinds of money problems.

In other news…Bob Riley is our Governor, whether Siegelman likes it or not. Yes the race was extremely close, and yes Baldwin County had a “my bad” occur, but they corrected themselves. The official vote tallies are in, and Riley won. End of story. Forcing a recount only delay’s the inevitable. What Alabama needs is to move forward…Harriet house needs your help this Christmas! They provide Christmas parties and dinners for their clients and their children. They are hoping for wrapping paper, tape, bows, small toys, and treats for the party. They are also looking for people and organizations to adopt a child’s wish list for Christmas. Contact Sandy or Qwen at 289-8988 for more info.

Finally…I wanted to say welcome to all our new members! I would like to thank Caro Osborne for helping get the word out about us. I encourage everyone to help get word out as well. The more members we get, the better this online community will become.
