The current death toll for the Myanmar typhoon is around 10,000. The survivors are experiencing extraordinary human suffering. They need our prayers and financial support. May God comfort them.
Myanmar has been on the verge of a civil war for the past 9 months, now this. Prayers are with that country so this tragic calamity might cause them to see their need for one another and peacefully work to rebuild their country.
The will of God prevails. In great contests each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God. Both may be, but one must be, wrong. - Abraham Lincoln, 1862
It makes me wonder what to do about contributing. How horrible is it that the government won't allow help! I pray they'll have a change of heart. We are so blessed in this country, even if many don't think so.

Disasters like this always make me feel so inadequate. I want to help too, Roxie.

It would probably be wise for our govt to decide how to help these people, if indeed, we are allowed to. It's clear any monies would go directly to the wrong folks.

It's up to 100.000 dead now, the conditions being what they are, an accurate count will never be possible. Katrina was just a thunderstorm compared to this.
