I don't think Obama has this in mind. After she opened up the idea of him becoming VP to her presidential ticket, he vehemently lashed out with a verbal throw down of "How can the person who isn't winning ask the person who IS winning to take the number two slot?"
It does seem in many ways that this would unite a force of people in the country. I personally am very open to it, but I haven't had time to think out all the positives and negatives of the situation. Only the immediate "coming together" has popped into my head.
However, as Kagan mentioned, the Clinton's would be adding a lot of "Old Washington Political Baggage" to his "Change" ideal. I think for this reason Obama will not offer the VP spot to Clinton.
----
We had three speeches tonight.
1. McCain. Extremely weak. He looked horrible, spoke horribly, and in comparison to the following two speeches, it looked like a reading group meeting.
2. Clinton. Very well spoken. She had the crowd, the positive attitude, the good speech, and a good strategy in taking a few days to decide 'what's next."
3. (The Finale). Obama. A turning point in history. 20,000 people plus assembled in the exact same spot where McCain will be officially receiving his nomination by the RNC in a few months. It had the usual Rock Star atmosphere, he was astute and appealing. He stayed positive. Another "Out of the ballpark" speech for Obama.
Where we go from here is only going to get more exciting. We will really see what Hillary and Bill are planning; we will see what Obama decides to do as far as who he will be leaning towards for a VP; and, I can't wait to eventually see Obama and McCain debating and running their general elections campaigns.
It all gets better from here
