That was when the wreck out on Highway 80 West of Demopolis happened and 2 young men were killed!

A similar event happened a few years back. I believe it was explained by Brian or Dave. The search bots were scouring the site for tidbits of information and the site counted them as visitors. This is probably what happened then as well. I feel certain the date would most likely coincide with a site upgrade. Usually Brian has the visitor counter set so that it does not count these search bots as visitors.

If I had to guess, this would be the most likely explanation for the unusually high number of visitors on that date.
