Gosh, I hope this works! I was dog-sitting a relative's dog and sometime between 10:30 and 11:00 pm July 4, 2008, she came up missing. She is a black lab wannabee. There may be two white specks on her chest, but would be very small. She is a middle-sized dog. She answers to Anna. She has a "sister" who was in the fence with her, and who is maybe an inch or two smaller, but she never left. I have no clue what has happened. I've called the pound and everything I know to do. I'm going to HATE telling my 10-year old nephew he no longer has a dog because of me!! The dog lived on Marengo Drive near the Camerons, Pope's, Myers', Fitz-Gerald's. Please help me!! The family will return Saturday, July 12. You can call my cell at 334-216-9964. Thank you!!!!

Saturday afternoon during the heavy rainstorm, we had a black lab looking dog come inside the store looking for shelter at Walmart. Every time the doors would open, it would come in. It had people that don't like dogs in a frantic. People were crowded at the doors waiting for the rain to break and here comes this big dog in and the first thing it did was stop and shake the water off. Every time an employee would run it out, it would come right back when the doors opened, this went on for about 30 to 45 minutes.
*Snickering*.....the black lab at Walmart was mine. My stepdaughter let them (there were two) ride into town with her in the truck, I guess not knowing the weather was going to get bad and when it did they freaked out and wanted shelter. I didn't know she had taken them until she got back and said she'd been paged about the dogs over the intercom, I know it didn't last for 30 or 45 minutes because she wasn't gone from the house that long, but sorry to anyone this bothered or scared. It's not like they were pitbulls and anyone that knows anything about labs knows they aren't agressive. Well I'll only speak for mine but regardless, I hope you find your nephew's dog and again sorry to anybody my dogs scared at Walmart.

I'm sorry, and I realize a picture would help, but truthfully, I'm not sure if "Anna" is the dog's name! I've looked around on the fridge and places I know where some pictures may be, but I can't find any. I've about given up hope. I called Lucille Carpenter, both radio stations, the police department, and my daughter has sent texts to various neighbors around in that area for a BOLO. Thank you, everyone, for such a response. Now, just pray for me that I don't stress over this too much. I've had many people tell me this very same thing has happened to them, and this sickening feeling may never go away; the fact that under MY watch, the nephew no longer has his buddy.

Chill out a little girlfriend! The dog will show up sooner or later. Maybe he's just "out on a date".

Bless Your Heart. Just a note of encouragement....My son was on a ranch in west Texas two weeks ago and his three dogs went on a run (without permission). They were gone from 4 pm till 1:30 am. Only two of them came back. There was an awful thunderstorm and I guess it spooked the yellow lab. She was gone for exactly two weeks. They put out posters (with no picture) and a lady saw one of the posters. It was dark when the lady got home but she saw Lilly (the yellow lab) run out from under her house. My son drove 2 hours that night, only to find out that Lilly had run from the lady and wasn't anywhere around. The next morning my son went back to the lady's house (2 miles from the ranch)and there she was!!! She came running to my son. No one knows where she had been but he has her back now. Good luck! Dogs can return!

Thank you so much! I'm hoping when the family gets back, she will recognize them, or their car, and they may have some pictures or something. It sickens my stomach every morning when I come in to work and someone asks, "Did the dog come back home yet?" because if she has, she's hiding from me. We are taking turns staying there overnight with the other dog hoping she will return. I put her food outside the door with a baby monitor hoping I may hear something. Thank you for that story, thank you so much.

Dove, I really thought it was funny seeing how people reacted about the dogs in Walmart. Deeya, try printing some Flyers and put them up around town and see if you get any results. Don't give up, she will show up.

GREAT NEWS, I hope... I called Lucille just to check and see if anyone had found this dog, and she was dialing my number at the very same time!! There is a dog there, one that fits the description. I called my husband to go to the house and repair all fence areas that she could have gotten out from, and HOPEFULLY, he will do this soon so I can go get the dog (if it is Anna), and return her home safely. I'm going to go get her some raw ground beef, frozen doggie treats and she's going to not ever want to leave again! ... I hope. I'll let you know later if this truly is our Anna when I return from the pound.
YAY!!!!! I am so happy for you I really hope it's her. I know how you feel, I lost my bad two for about 3 weeks a little over a year ago and I was heartbroken, thanks to flyers and newspaper ads I got them back.

Well, case solved! ...And I can't thank all of you enough! I really need to donate money or something because everyone on DL helped me keep my sanity. But the dog is home, fence is hopefully fixed (fingers crossed), and after Saturday, my daughter or I will no longer have to stay there and worry about this. You guys are the best!

I'm so happy that you found the dog!!! They are funny little creatures. Some of them have everything a puppy could want and will still stray. Again, so happy for you!!!
