Sometimes

Hey DLive,

I was just lookin around at the site and thinkin bout home. Its hard to believe its been 2 yrs since I was home last. I am sure that most of you know who I am by now and those that dont only have to ask of course. I remember so many things from home and where I grew up in Demopolis. So much has happend since I left home in the fall of 2001. I went to infantry school at Ft. Benning GA, been to Afghanistan to fight in a war not many people support anymore, got married, waiting for the birth of my first child (girl) been here and there, but yet I still come back to the one thing that brings me to reality and thats HOME! I remember as a teen growing up how I repeatedly said to myself and my friends that I'd never wanna live in Demopolis and come back there after I got out, boy am I eating those words everyday. I sometimes think of all the good times I had growin up playin around the neighborhood and chillin in Boligee with my cousin Joseph or hanging out with people like Jeff, blondie, statpat, LPL, corey_murphy and a bunch of others. I remember when my brother died in the summer of 98 when I was at Basic Training for the national Gaurd in Ft. Leanordwood Missouri and how everyone came out to help me and my family. Not sure if I ever told everyone Thank You for that occasion but if I didnt Thanks to those who were there. I remember all the girls that I went out with in High School. Ah the good times rolled in with some of the bad times. To think I gave all that up for a carrer in the army. LOL what was I thinking huh?? :dunno: Anyways I wrote all this because I was of course thinking of home and missing all the folks there. Just a little thought for all who read this to think on....If you ever thought of leaving and havent dont..and if you have left remember your roots. Sometimes we forget where those are but Im plannin a trip home at the end of July when I get some leave and I plan on having one of those good old fashioned parties like I remember having and all will be invited. Maybe I can get in on a poker night as long as you guys dont take all my money considering I dont play poker as well as I do spades. Anyways from me to all of you Happy Easter and I hope that all of you remember your roots.

Rest assured that the people of Demopolis and this area of the country appreciate what you guys have done, and are doing, in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Re: Sometimes

Hey Man. Thanks for protecting us. Never think that ALOT of people don't support the war. That's crap. Think of all the Vets that were there before you and I and their familys. MOST of us are grateful to you and the others still there.......We will always keep the homelight burning for ya buddy!

Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk,
my first instinct is to laugh.
But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me.
Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.

Re: Sometimes

I don't know who you are but I do appreciate you defending our country in a time of need. If it wasn't for guys like you then this country wouldn't be what it is today. I hope that your trip home to Demopolis is all that you want it to be. I hope that you make many more great memories to share with your family. Once again, thanks for being there when our country needed you.
