Seems the Pope's condition has taken a turn for the worse. The world has begun praying for the leader of the Catholic Church

They first were saying he had died. Now they are saying he still has "heart and brain function". Considering his illness, I would say his time is very short (if he's still alive now).

It will be more than a couple of days. I remember in '78 when the current Pope was elected and announced. I found this interesting article about Papal Succession.

I don't know how many other Catholic members besides myself that we have on DemopolisLive but, Catholic or not, I would ask for prayers from all that pray for the comfortable passage of Pope John Paul II.

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."

Re: Pope in Bad Shape

I'm not a Catholic,(Baptist as a matter of fact) but if it's his time to go, I would hope God would take him quickly, peacefully, and mercifully. Pope John Paul II has held this position since before I was out of high school (1978). He has seen and done a lot in his life even before he was appointed Pope. I was watching a CNN Special on him and his life last night.

God bless Pope John Paul II.

I was raised Catholic as was my husband so we have an appreciation for Pope John Paul and hope and pray for a comfortable passage.

Re: Pope in Bad Shape

Pope John Paul II has passed from this realm into the next. My Church is currently without a worldly leader...and will be for days. That is disconcerting to me. I may have not agreed with all of the stances of the Pope but just his very existance gave me a sense of security of sorts. And now we (Catholics) are somewhat without worldly leadership for the time being, although we do have the Cardinal Camerlengo (I had to look that one up), the acting head of the Church. It's just not the same.

For me, it will be long days waiting to have a new Pope in place. And the anticipation of who it will be is strong for me...as it is for most Catholics. But my faith, as it should be, is strong that all will be as it should, when it should.

resquiescat en pace

Rest in Peace...
Pope John Paul II
