Does it have a DVD drive by chance? I'll try to get a disk made for you today if you don't find one before then.

What version of Windows did it have originally? I can make you a copy of what it came with... got just about every version of Windows known to man here...

It came with windows 98, when I reformatted hard drive to get computer to start I loaded windows 98SE, but sound and a couple other items would not work. I had to reformat and use compaq restoration disk to get everything working. THe computer does have a cd-rom drive. I just need the upgrade to 98SE, not the full install thanks............

Probably just needed some drivers for your sound and other peripherals. I have a DVD with versions of Windows from the beginning to ME. I'll try and make a stand-alone for the Windows 98 SE upgrade.

PS: plus, most of my favorite older games won't work on xp, even with compatability mode (oh, how i miss Descent 2, among MANY others).

I have no life.

Battlezone owns all (not compatible with XP to my knowlege). Decent Freespace took alot of my time as well.

I got Decent Freespace working on XP... I dunno... ??

I never could get the controls just right on the PC, I was spoiled by the awesome version of Decent on the Playstation.

Yea, most viruses search for vulnerabilities in XP. XP has more holes as it has more capability in the first place.

I still have 98 here from some of my old machines, but so far I've gotten everything working in XP.

Thanks for all the help with my Garage computer. Boy what an idiot I  am. I loaded the compaq restoration disk again, when it asked for the win98 disc, I loaded my 98se disc. The compaq didn't like it, and after a little trickery and about 15 restarts, I got it to load. Garage computer is alive and well. Drop by for a look..... thanks again
