Anyone have any experience with Tivo or DVRs

My parents are getting a new Directtv reciever with Tivo built in and was wondering if anyone on here has a Tivo or DVR (digital video recorder) and how they feel about it?

To be or not to be, that is the question.

Re: Anyone have any experience with Tivo or DVRs

One of the greatest inventions since Television itself. I've been using the DVR service offered by my cable company for some time now. Being able to regularly record shows, Watching a show and recording another, all makes it extremly cool. Not to mention simply pausing live TV, or fast forwarding through commercials on stuff you recorded. I have about 9 diffrent shows that I keep a 3 to 5 episode que of. As new stuff gets recorded, old shows are dropped off. This way, I always have something to watch.

DirecTV Tivo has some of the options cut out, like USB support and such.

My dad has it, overall, its really nice, but I would *love* to have that USB port working...
