HELP!! computer problem!!
I was just wondering if anyone knew what is going on when your DVD drive is saying that there is no disk in the drive. I am trying to burn a DVD and it keeps telling me to insert a blank disc, even though there is one in there. I tried to put other discs in there(movies, software, etc.) but none of them work either. Does anyone know what to do? Please don't tell me I have to reinstall Windows - I would cry. Thanks

Mine did that at first too but I don't remember what I did...Are you sure it's in the right place? Sorry I did something and it was easy but can't remember what it was.

How many drives do you have? If you are using Nero, be sure DVD is selected and you are using the right destination (sometime it will choose the CDRW by default).

Also, goto My Computer and see of you can see the drive in there.

Check as Dave says. Also, the IMAP service may have problems if using XP.

If you can't read other discs, it sounds like a drive problem. I haven't seen reinstalling Windows clearing up this type of problem. Is it a new drive? Still under warranty?
