I know you are but what am I.

On the day the dog ordinance passed the vote, Linden mayor Pat Vice made sure everyone knew he was the big dog in town. Stemming from a complaint by Councilman Howard Walters stating a uniformed police officer in Linden refused to speak to him regarding a water leak at City Hall. According to Jeff Laduron, Public Safety Director, Vice told him if he allowed any policemen talk to city council members, that officer would be fired. Laduron claims to have witnesses to the statement. Vice lost it, stating” You’re twisting my words! This is totally insubordination and I’m highly opposed to it.” Vice then rephrased his order, stating police could talk to Councilmen, just not about police business. Instead, all “police business” had to go through the Mayor and Public Safety Director first. In other words police, don’t speak unless spoken to.

Guard leaves for Georgia.

Hugs, kisses, and tears went around as the 167th packed it up and shipped out to Fort Benning last Friday morning. A few speeches were given, including a surprise visit from Rep. Artur Davis. As temperatures hovered around 10 degrees, the troops made off in a convoy of busses and military vehicles.

New E911 director named.

Floyd Wilson was voted in by the E911 board as the new director of E911 in Marengo County. According to board members, he was selected based on his vast experience in E911 dispatching and extensive educational background and training abilities. He is expected to start work in mid February. If anyone else actually interviewed for this position, I’d love to hear about it.
