Re: Resignation\Retirement of Roberts
oh yeah. you just made my brother's day. he has one more year at that school. i don't think there is really anyone at that school that likes the man. have you heard why or anything?
My hands tremble, my voice quakes,
my heart cries out, my body shakes,
my tears fall, my breath stills,
my strenght fails, my mind reels.....
I think Mr. Roberts has done an outstanding job. My daughter and all of her friends love him. I thought she was going to cry when I told her he had retired\resigned. I say retired\resigned b\c I am not sure which is true. My guess is he retired and has plans to enjoy watching his sons play college ball.
ONe of the most decent, genuine men that I have ever had contact with. Had a deep love for the kids. I know he will be missed and will be hard to replace. MY sincere gratitude and best wishes for him and his family
According to a source I have, a school administrator, Mr. Roberts has decided to retire as of today. As a junior, I have been nothing but pleased with his guidance throughout my high school years. I will be the first to say that yes, he is very strict, but if you will notice we have a fine, outstanding high school with very high standards that most school systems in this area would be delighted to call their own. It takes strong leadership and discipline to maintain these high standards in a high school environment and Mr. Roberts has done an excellent job with this in my opinion. This will be a definite loss to the Demopolis School System.

I agree with you, Stu. He was my principal while I attended DHS and I always enjoyed him. He was strict, but he was always fair. He was never one to give "special treatments" or anything like that. He is a very friendly person and I have nothing but good things to say about him. Does anyone know if he will stay in Demopolis?
He was a fair man, being strict can be taken in two ways. One he didn't let anyone no matter who their parents were get away with anything. If you will take notice, Butch Russell set the bar for administrative control, and the others have had to follow suit. Two, he had high standards and you either met them or you were asked to leave. As someone else said, any school in this area found it hard to measure up to the quality of our school system. If this were not so, why would so many want to come from the outside to have their children attend school here
Mr. Roberts is planning to move back to Mobile to tend to his farm.
