This Comment is about HWY 80 Used Parts in Demopolis, AL.
I went to the Hwy 80 Used Parts, outside of Demopolis on Hwy 80 West, to get at window for on of my vehicles. They happed to have a vehicle like it and the same window I needed, so I paid the $85 for it and they told me to come back tomorrow to pick up because they have got to cut it out. So I returned the next day to pick up the window and it just didn't look right. I ask them about it and they assured me they cut it out right and it would work. I really didn't know much about it so I took their word for it.
About a week later I took the window and the vehicle to Davis Glass Shop to have it put in. I was informed that the window was cut out wrong. They had cut the molding off the window. They showed me how it should have been cut. Davis Glass Shop in Demopolis was very nice and helpful and even gave me a good discount on a new glass. (Kudos to Davis Glass shop)
So then I went back to Hwy 80 Used Parts and nicely told him about how the window could not be used. I asked if I could exchange it for some other parts off the vehicle and not for a refund. The owner asked "What year is the vehicle" and I told him. He looked it up on the computer and turned away and walked off and told the young man working for him in a very mean & angry tone "It's Sold, You hear me, SOLD" and then he walked off to the back. I just stood there and then the boy walked up and told me "He said it’s sold" and I said "I heard him". I waited a couple of minutes and ask the boy if he could go get the owner so I could speak with him. He asked me why. I stated so I can talk to him about this. The boy went in the back and came back out and said "He said that he was not coming out".
From that point I was then mad because the owner had refused to talk to a paying customer. Not only that but turned his back to me and walked away telling some poor kid in a very hateful tone to tell me it was sold and he refused to come out from the back to speak to me. He never once told me all sales are final or anything like that. If that was the case then it would be a different story. But I also took his word when I asked about the window not looking like it was cut right and He assured me it was. After I went back and nicely told him that they couldn't use and wanted to exchange it for other parts then he got pissed because I wanted to return it.
That was my first time to do business there and it will be my LAST. I have talked to some other people about it they had a same experience there.
What would you do?

I had to stop and ask self,"Do I really need to be here", and self says,"Only in the cover of darkness."
I've never personally been there, but that particular situation seems pretty roguish. I guess we can assume noting is guaranteed there.
I'm no glass expert, but do you even have to cut the glass at all? Seems if the doors are the same, you would just take the panal apart and pull the glass out intact.

I think you have made the right decision, Ranger. I believe they should have given you CREDIT, at least, for the window. 85 dollars may not sound like a lot to some people, but really it is for something you can't use. PLUS you had to turn around and buy more glass. I've never heard of the place you are talking about, but I know it's not a place I would want to do business with if they treat their workers, much less customers, that way. Not very professional if you ask me...
I think I would have insisted to talk to the manager and if he refused to come out then relay a message that he had two choices, either talk to you or your attorney when you sue. Usually that is enough to bring them around to your side of the matter rather quickly. Glad you posted this so we all know to stay clear of that guy.
You can also sue the business in Small Claims Court. If you go and present a strong enough case, they will not only have to give you your money back, but will have to repay you for your filing fees and court costs as well. You do this on your own without an attorney and will have to pay filing fees up front (which aren't much). Once it gets to court, you will have a chance to present your case to a Judge. I would also report them to the BBB so they can start keeping a running tab on who and how many other people they are screwing over here.
I definitely agree with the idea to report this to the Better Business Bureau. A while back I had a complaint about a business here in town and was given the same advice (from you guys). It definitely worked out in my favor. The application process online is very easy and the people at the BBB couldn't have been nicer. They kept me informed with each step. Good luck and thanks for the warning. I will steer clear of this business.
My dad has had some dealings wiht this dude and dad said that he seemed sorta fishy. In more than one occasion dad said he smelled a rat while talking to this guy. We will not go back for sure!

Re: Bad Business........
Ranger why don't you turn them over to better business bureau and then if you have a TV station near there with a trouble shooter have them contact them and put it on the air what kind of a business they are running or maybe a trouble shooter with your local newspaper might could publish it. I don't think he wants all the bad publicity and if he doesn't make it right he will be humiliated and given a real bad rep. publicly. Just a thought about what you might do. We have a guy here on our local channel that has helped quite a few people out that have been screwed over by businesses. Good Luck keep me posted on what happens I am sure everyone else would like to know how it ends also.
