Ok guys, this is sort of a pet peeve of mine and I just wanted your opinion of this.
It seems that the troopers are missing the boat when it comes to who to ticket. It is a law in the state that your headlights be on when it is raining yet time and time again I see some idiot out there driving through hard rain and no lights on. I guess his thinking is "Well I can see fine" but fails to realize that it's hard for others to see him, especially during bad rain storms.
Yet a person will be pulled over and ticketed for not wearing a seat belt faster than for not having their headlights on during rain. At least with the seat belts if you are in an accident the only person you would hurt by not wearing them is yourself but if a driver can't see someone coming through the rain because they don't have their headlights on then that is a danger to a lot other people.
I really think if people would start being pulled over for not having on their headlights then maybe the word would get around quicker that it's a law to have them on.

Re: Lights On While Raining
i don't drive with my headlights on when its raining, unless its raining pretty hard (storm or something). i think for most people, like me, its just not something we think about. i don't. when i get in a car and its raining, i cut on the wipers and leave trying to get to where i got to go so i can get back home. cutting my lights on never crosses my mind.
My hands tremble, my voice quakes,
my heart cries out, my body shakes,
my tears fall, my breath stills,
my strenght fails, my mind reels.....
That's just the tip of the iceberg AngelWing. Do you honestly expect a police officer to get out in the rain to write a ticket for not having headlights on??? Nah! They ain't gonna get soaked for a ticket that will probably wind up being dismissed by the judge anyway! Seatbelt tickets are in the same boat. What cop wants to tie up the majority of a day off to sit through court for a bookfull of seatbelt tickets? They write'em usually during times when they need the contacts, such as holiday traffic campaigns.
I got a boatload full of pet peeves in the traffic department:
Expired or No Tag
No Insurance
Driving While Suspended / Cancelled / Revoked
Repeat DUI Offenders
...and the number one pet peeve....wabbits wif po-wice cars!
I see both sides. I typically do turn mine on, but there are times, especially when the rain is not particularly hard, that I forget. On the same token, something that irritates me is that the fine for an adult not wearing their seatbelt is $25 and the fine for a child not being properly restrained is $10. I don't understand that, because as AngelWing said, an adult not only knows the consequences of not wearing a seat belt, but they have the ability to make the choice of whether to buckle up or not. Children, especially young ones, cannot very well get into a safety seat and buckle themselves in.
Some people complain because God put thorns on the roses; others praise Him because He put roses among the thorns
