I'm presently running with a Geforce 5700 FX 256mb. It's done well for me, but I'm looking to upgrade a little bit. Looking at cards in the $200 or less range, what's the best card out there I'll gain a significant improvement from? I'm partial to nvidia cards.
My other specs:
2.6 pentium 4 (hyperthreading)
2 gb DDR 400 ram @ duel channel
I would like to go up to the 6800, but would most likely have to drop down to the 128mb card, and/or lose other features like tv-out (required).
Comments or suggestions appreciated!

After looking up those models, the 6800 is going to be a FAR better card than the 6600, even with only 128Mb of Ram. Infact, the old ATI 9800 Pro's can beat out the 6600.
If your choice is between those two, the 6800 by far.
6600GT or just 6600 is a pretty decent card. You could probably get a 5900 under $200, and I know for a fact you could get an ATI Radeon 9800 for ~$150.
Give it another month or two, the new Geforce 7800 should push prices lower on the 6xxx series cards. 7800 plays Doom3 quite well at 2000x1700 (don't remember the exact res). Scary fast, but for $500, it had better be.

Brian and I have always seemed to have different tastes on this one. Anywho, Dave, does this mean I get to get your old video card? Come on man, hook a brotha up with the left-overs!!
I'm an Nvidia man. My Playstation emulator doesn't work well with ATI cards. Also, most of my games are openGL, Nvidia whips ATI quite well in that area...

I admit, I like ATI. They cleaned up their reputation on Bad Drivers and their Chips have consistantly been of high quality. A short while back, Nvidia released their latest powerhouse (I can't recall the exact chipset), and it required a hoover Vacuum attachment to keep it cool, then ATI put out theirs which spanked it in every catagory and required nothing short of the usual heatsink and a nearly noiseless fan to keep it running. Things like that make a big diffrence in my book.

Ok, then do we get the trickle down effect so I can get yours Jeff?? My computer at the gallery could use a boost!
