For those still using Internet Explorer, Here is yet another reason to switch to the webbrowser Firefox.
Quite simply, the ability to block webpage advertising with a few clicks.
How?
- Download Firefox.

- Install Firefox.
- Open Firefox.
- Download the Adblock Extention (It will install automatically). Click Here
- Restart Firefox.
- Now, just right click any Advertising image and click "Adblock Image" at the bottom of the dropdown box. Presto, gone.
To block a large number of advertisements at once, here is a little more advanced trick. Lets take the Demopolistimes.com website for example.
Goto their webpage, right click a banner and click Adblock Image.
The image that it shows being blocked will look something like this.
Since we can determine that adsys.townnews.com's primary purpose is to serve ads, we can safely remove ANY image that comes from that domain. You can do this by changing the above link to:
Notice the * . That is a wildcard that tells adblock to block any element coming from that domain. If we wanted to be more specific to just the times website, we could make it:
Flash advertisements work a bit diffrent, there will be an adblock tab that appears above or below the animation that you can click to block it. The same principle as above applies.
