When is the last time someone with this much celebrity status shown this much pride in our state? The injustice of Ruben being almost elimnated from the show "American Idol" still makes me ill. Including sports stars, entertainers, actors, professionals: Can you name one Alabamian that is better known right now across all gender, age, and ethnic barriers? The fact that he IS the most talented singer on problably the most popular show on TV right now only adds to the good light he's been able to put our state in the last few weeks. If Demopolis could somehow get my man Ruben to Grand Marshall the COTR festivities this year, you would see the attendance double from last year without question.
I thought it funny and a little quirky that Gov. Riley gave Ruben his own day in Alabama when he did it...Now I stand corrected, and wonder if Alabama has done enough yet to show it's appreciation.

You know, I think that Reuben DEFINETLY will make it as a singer!He is by far the best on the show, but I'm leaning towards the idea that he won't win because HE WILL MAKE IT on his own, no matter what! I have this feeling that someone that NEEDS the help is gonna win.... Just my opinion....

I agree he doesn't need to win to make it at this point. I just feel it will be a crime if he doesn't win. And yes, I would stand in line to see him perform live:-)

Ruben's back on top! That scare last week seems to have been just that. Last nite after the show ended, Alabama phoned in so much that large parts of the state couldn;t even dial out due to overload in the phone systems! That's the support he's been deserving.

Big Reuben is just the man. I don't even listen to the types of music that these people sing on the show....but I find myself listening to Reuben just due to the sheer talent the man has. I also think it's wonderful how he continually shows support for the state that supports him. But for the amount of votes he's getting, he isn't just impressing Alabama, but the whole country!
Good to see Ruben make it to the Finals. If he cant kick little ole Clay's Butt then i will never watch again. He is by far the best talent on the show
