OK, I understand if you ring up merchandise and your register has less money than what you sold out. What I can't understand is forcing a cashier to pay for the gas of some loser that drove off without paying. Unless the station has a "pay before you pump" policy(which I can't think of one in Demopolis that does). How can a cashier stop you from not paying after you pump your gas? I understand Elks has this policy in place. I don't see how it's fair.

What's even more stupid is the Petroleum Industry managed to get the State Legislature (and in other states besides Alabama) to pass the law where you could lose your DL for gas drive-offs. The police don't even enforce it. I do not know of one person that has lost their drivers license from a gas drive-off since that law was passed.
