My new computer has a flat panel monitor. I notice that it has a small green dot on the screen in the upper right hand corner. After doing some research on the internet, I found out that this was caused by what is called a stuck pixel. I called Dell and they said that it was normal. Actually, this is a common problem with flat panel displays. Most manufacturers do not cover this issue unless you have 8 or more stuck or dead pixels. It is hardly noticeable unless you are on a really dark screen. My question is, have any of you ever had this problem? Is there a fix for it? I went to one web page that would flash red, blue and green across the screen that would possibly make it unstick, but it didn't work.
Wow, I've never heard of this....I have a gateway flat panel and have never had a problem w/that. If I knew it was there, my eyes would fixate on it and it would drive me crazy! That's just the way I am.....poor "hub", I had a picture on the wall that I thought was not the same distance away from my mantel as the other, it drove me insane until he said, I'll show you.....whipped out his measuring tape and hung his head........."I cannot BELIEVE you could see that this was just 8/16 of an inch off" he fixed it and I was all better LOL!
If your computer/monitor is new enough, can you swap it for another?
If I gave Dell enough grief about it I could. But it is such a common problem that usually it has to be 8 or more before they will fix it. You really never notice it because it sits right in the address bar on internet explorer where it is white and it doesnt show up. So I have pretty much just decide to not worry with it unless I start to see a lot more of them. It has a four year warranty. I think if I had know about it that I would have just bought a regular monitor. But I have also heard that there is a problem with the flat panel televisions doing this too sometimes.
Sometimes you can massage the area, sometimes fixes a short or something, but its a temp fix and can often cause more dead pixels.[/quote]
How much does it charge for a massage?? ROFL!!
I am aware that my appearance, by mortal standards, is strange, even unsettling.
If I am to be an ambassador of my people, tradition dictates that I look the part.
Sadly, those who judge me on my looks alone ignore the causes I champion
Still, when the need arises, I am a warrior.
YEP....just repeating what he said....LOL! I did not have the heart to correct him after that!!........sometimes (which is not that often) I do know when to just BE QUIET!!
