This is horrible! It really doesn't surprise me though! I'm not gonna bad mouth DCH because I have had good and bad experiences there. Unfortunately, the bad outweigh the good! I don't want this thread to turn into that, but why didn't he go to Dr. Andrews! It seems like the coaches would have insisted! I understand it was a simple fracture, but someone with his athletic ability should have gone to the "best."

I agree! I can't believe he didn't use Dr. Andrews! People come from all over the world to Dr. Andrews and Dr. Lemak. I also had a bad experience at DCH. It was not a staph infection, but I had surgery and the anesthetist did not do a very good job. I have had several surgeries, but this was the worst one to wake up from and it was the most simple one I have had.

ABC 33/40 reported Tuesday night that Dr. Fowler had been back in 3 times to perform debridement. You have to remember this was an open fracture, meaning the bone broke through the skin. There is no telling what kind of trash was in this wound. DCH has been having difficulty with their infection rate so it could be possible that he has developed a Staph infection. I was at Dr.Fowler's office yesterday and his assistant Mike said Prothro was doing much better. As far as Dr. Andrews being the best, I'm kind of partial to Dr. Fowler. He was my surgeon when I broke my hip in 2000 and he just performed my mother's knee surgery in July.

I'm sorry but that was just DCH's BS! They wanted the money from that surgery. I understand it was a bad break, but I have never seen any fracture that couldn't wait an hour to go somewhere else to be operated on!
