Hi...I have a computer that just will not work! We've taken the whole thing apart and put it back together again, and all we can get out of it is that it'll start up until the Windows XP boot screen, and then it just begins to reboot and reboot, and reboot. We've tried all of the hardware that we can think of to take out and then put back in, stripped the computer to it's barest bones and even then it still won't run. We've ruled out the video, sound, memory, and hard drives, and just can't think of anything else to try! Is there anything we can do?
Thanks for all the help in advance!!!

Yes, we've tried starting it in safe mode, it doesn't even work then either. We know the memory is good, just not sure about the MotherBoard...Nate says it's not that as far as he can tell though *frowns* Men! yeesh!

Are you coming off a fresh install of windows? Sounds like a driver or corrupt file issue preventing windiows to load properly. Try booting off your windows disk.

When the computer is in a reboot state its often a boot file problem or something seriously wrong with Windows.
If there are files on the computer which must be kept, then you need to find another PC to put the hard drive into. Install the hard drive as a slave drive so the PC won't boot to it, and see if you can see the drive once the compter is up and running. You do however run into problems when puting a Windows XP hard drive into a computer that has Windows 98 or earlier. The older versions of Windows use FAT32 file system where as XP often uses NTFS. With this conflict you won't be able to see the hard drive once booted.
If the computer doesn't have any files to be saved, then bit the bullet and reinstall Windows. If you have a ready made PC like Dell or HP, then you should have a set of Recovery CD's that came with it. Put in the operating system disk, and reboot the PC. The computer should boot from the CD and take you into the setup. Just make sure you do the full install, not the Windows over Windows mess. I have never been a fan of that since there are often problems that arise afterward. Holler if any of this helps you out!

If you choose to go this route, I would also like to suggest formatting the hard drive so that you start off on a clean slate. I would be very hesitant to reinstall Windows over the current setup. I would be afraid it may retain the corrupt file causing the problem and cause even more problems down the road. I just had to reinstall Windows XP Pro on a notebook for just that reason. The Service Pack 2 update had a bad install. I just started completely over and reloaded everything.

I have been using Apple's for twenty + years ( Mac's since the came out) and never a problem like those common microsoft OS problems.
Buy a Mac!!! Cost more, worth it in the long run. (paid political ad by Apple!)
