Christmas on the River has come and gone once again. What are your thoughts? As we think about and discuss this years event, we should try and think of ways to make it better--not just what what we think wasn't as good as years past. There is a meeting this Tuesday I'm told to "critique" this years events--I think suggestions and ideas for next year would be welcome.
I personally think this festival continues to bring our community together like nothing else out there. Eash year, more and more new faces come through our city and either decide they want to be a part of this community, or begin wishing they could be. I would like to extend our thanks to the volunteers who put forth all the time and effort it takes to have this festival year after year. You make this city special.
Thanks for the pictures Dave...We were on vacation this year and missed out on everything. Glad to see the picture highlights! We were in Gatlinburg for there parade Friday night and ended up stuck in traffic after the parade was over for two hours to travel about 10 miles. Glad COTR hasn't gotten that bad yet!
Thanks for the pictures Dave! I have missed the past 8 years of COTR. For some reason, I thought it was different than what I experienced this year. I was not impressed with much. However, the D-Live bunch made it a fun weekend for me.
I was amazed at how few art & craft booths there were in the park. So much of the merchandise being sold was from China...what was that all about? Don't get me wrong...there were some great booths but mostly all I saw was junk.
The children's parade was shorter than I remembered and not quite as impressive as I thought it could have been. I would have loved to have seen more floats and more bands!
Friday event.....BBQ cook off....I had fun. What happened to the live band that every one told me about?
Fireworks ROCKED on Saturday. Great Job.....whoever was in charge of that!
The smallest good deed is better than the grandest intention....So, today and everyday, I'm going to go out of my way to do something kind for someone.
Where will the meeting for the "critique" be held? I have a few comments to bring out.
People complain about the parade being too short but doesn't care to participate. I would like to see a list of entries in this years parade. Then I will check which local organizations to include churches that didn't bother to have an entry.
