I don't mean to go off on a rant, but, have you ever noticed when you go into WalMart or some other departmental store that it is next to impossible to get around in the store due to folks just stopping in the middle of the isles talking or passing the time of day or day dreaming or what ever and they are totally oblivious to anything else around them? It is like stopping your car in the middle of an intersection and carrying on a conversation with another person in another car and never mind the traffic backing up all around them.
I'm not saying don't stop an talk but at least have the courtesy to move to the side and let others around you. If you have that much to get caught up on then invite them over to the house and spend some real quality time with them.

i was in food world around the christmas holidays and was picking up some things. i had a good bit of stuff and there was a woman behind me who only had a 2 or 3 items. well i let her ahead of me, being kind esp. around the holiday season. well the woman behind her just lost it. she scoffed and went off me saying i couldnt do that. i just looked at her calmly and said "well merry christmas to you too." her jaw dropped when i said that to her. i guess she expected me to argue back. was that wrong? she wouldnt have gotten out any quicker b/c it was still the same number of people ahead of her.

xero...we live in a small town as well and this happens all the time... and it seems that they pick the busiest aisle to stand in the middle of and talk. I have been guilty of talking to people heck...that's the only place I run into them.. but I do get out of the way.
I know what you mean! At least with the new WalMart it's not quite as bad. The isles are wider giving you a little more manuevering room but than the old one one did but still it can get congested at places. Sometimes you'll have two or three charts all parked at one corner with the women chatting making one heck of a road block to get around, hard to be nice all the time, especially if you're in a big hurry. I have actually had to literally push one lady's cart over, while she stood there looking on and not offering to help, just to get by her before, so rude.
What you do is, you see the road block from about 20 feet away right.... Then you get your buggy in front of you and take off running. Right before you smash into all of the blabbering folks, just yell "SCUSE ME" and WAM! you smash right through.
Probably not the friendliest approach though...

LOL. I needed a good laugh today. I'm better watch out for carts now.
I had to stop and ask self,"Do I really need to be here", and self says,"Only in the cover of darkness."
I was shopping at the Commissary at Tyndall AFB one day, and an older gentleman had the aisle blocked by his cart. I approached and said "Excuse me.", and he replied "I PUT IN MY 20 YEARS, AND I CAN BLOCK THE AISLE IF I WANT TO!" I gently nudged my way past, and continued with my shopping.
They've given me a number, and taken away my name!
