Theo Ratliff Foundation to sponsor Grammy-nominated choir

Everyone is invited to hear the internationally famous Central State University Choir under the direction of Dr. William Caldwell at the Demopolis Civic Center at 7PM on Wednesday, March 22. The choir, nominated for a Grammy in 1993, has performed with Stevie Wonder, Bill Cosby, and Arsenio Hall; their repertoire includes all periods and styles, including spiritual music. The free concert is sponsored by the Theo Ratliff Foundation, the Eastern Star Baptist Church, and the Two Rivers Arts Council.

Adriena Baldwin's article in the Times today says they will be singing traditional and contemporary Gospel music as well as Gibbons, Mendelssohn, and others. Dr. Caldwell is a 1972 graduate of DHS and a former member of Eastern Star Baptist. I've heard that this choir is fabulous. They have sung all over the U.S. and Europe and we are part of their spring tour.
