Miss Bernquetta Johnson is going to retire after this year. She put in 41 years of service to the Demopolis City School system. She will be sorely missed by the other teachers and the students at U.S. Jones. She is a great math teacher and a very special person. I remember when she taught me back in the 5th grade, she was really hard but she taught me a lot and I thank her for that. I feel bad for the children of Demopolis losing such a good teacher and one that actually cares about the children.
So here is to you Miss Johnson, I'm sorry to see you leave but enjoy your retirement.
Moving on up, Moving on up to eastside, to those deluxe apartments in the sky!!!.
I don't know Mrs. Johnson nor did I go to school in Demopolis, but CONGRATULATIONS are in order regardless! Congratulations Mrs. Johnson for your outstanding dedication to the many students you have taught during your 41 years of service! Congratulations to you on your retirement as well. May you have a long and prosperous retirement.
Sincerely,
Stickman

I had Mrs. Johnson for homeroom/math in the 4th grade. She is one of those teachers that knows your name after the first day, and still remebers it 20 years later. I got quite a few paddlings at the hands of Bernquetta, and I deserved every one of them The Demopolis School System is losing a good one!
I had Mrs. Johnson in 5th grade 30 some odd years ago. She was one of my favorite teachers and made me not completely hate math. I couldn't have gone as far as I did without her patience. Congratulations and best wishes Mrs Johnson, we all still love you.
I remember Miss Johnson back in 5th grade. She was a really great teacher. She wouldnt take anything from any child. She really cared about all the kids. Some a lot more than others from the paddlings she gave them, lol. Congrats to you Miss Johnson and best wishes!
I remember her throwing erasers at sleeping kids. :-)
"The House of the Venerable and Inscrutable Colonel was what they called it when they were speaking Chinese. Venerable because of his goatee, white as the dogwood blossom, a badge of unimpeachable credibility in Confucian eyes. Inscrutable because he has gone to his grave without divulging the Secret of the Eleven Herbs and Spices."
I also had Ms. Johnson as a homeroom teacher and math teacher with Dave. She knew my mother pretty well and she did not hesitate telling my mother if I caused any problems. I do remember her giving me a paddling several times, but I also remember the one time that she did not and she should have. Thank you Ms. Johnson.
I did not go to school in Demopolis and first met Mrs. Johnson when she taught my daughter and later taught my son. Mrs Johnson is an outstanding teacher and a very nice person as well. Although it has been several years since she taught them, she asked me several days ago how they were doing when we happened to run into each other in town. She recalled each of their names and told me what grade they were in now. I couldn't believe it. Thank you Mrs. Johnson for all you did,

"If I got SMART with you .... how would you know???" BIG DOG
I also had Mrs.Johnson for math a long, long time ago.She was one of those rare teachers that you would love to death but want to kill her at the same time. She was strict when it called for it,and she'd beat your *** if you cut up in her class. The majority of the time she was the coolest teacher I had.She will be missed at school.
ok...this is one of those times that I am not really sure if I should say something or not.. but since this is suppose to be a place to say exactly whats on your mind..here goes.. First I do admire Mrs. Johnson..putting up with kids for 41 years is really something. and even though I actually never got lucky enough to have her in school, I do know that she was a very good teacher.. Somehow I just missed having her..but there is a story that I know about her..something that happened LONGGGGGGGGGGG ago and she probably doesn't remember it. who knows. but I guess it was one of those things that has stuck with me.. ok here goes..
Way way way longgggggggg ago when I was in 2nd grade or thereabouts.. my brother was in 4th.. my mom had just purchased him a new notebook for math and had written his name in the book.. the first day that he took the book to school, it was stolen by a girl of another color. my brother told Mrs. Johnson and they looked at the book and sure enough the place where my brothers name had been written was all scratched out. Mrs. Johnson just told my brother "tough". Well...when our mom picked us up from school that day..brother told her, and she got a "little" upset. she parked the car and went into the school to confront Mrs. Johnson. Somehow the notebook was obtained and mom did see that it belonged to my brother but still Mrs. Johnson was not going to do anything. At this point, words and lots of them I would believe were exchanged and at one point my mom invited Mrs. Johnson out onto the street in front of the school and told her exactly what she would do to her. At this point, Mr. Templin (whom I have loved since 1st grade) was able to calm them both down and my mom and me and brother left.. a few hours later at my house, Mr. Templin showed up with a few new notebooks for my brother along with apologies from Mrs, Johnson and on behalf of the school. after this was all dropped..Mrs. Johnson continued to teach my brother for the rest of the year and now thinking about it I think it was requested that I was not to get her.
Now ..why did this happen?? I have no idea,,maybe she was having a bad day.. and I am sure that my mom was a little hot headed too and I never said that my brother was a saint.
I guess it was just one of those things that happen..
