I have a crack on the top of my laptop close to the henge that is getting worse. Nothing has been set on it or been closed up in it. I'm guessing its from opening and closing the laptop. It's still under warranty but I need to know what to do before I can get it fixed, or what i can do to it more permanently if they claim that something was set on it. PEASE HELP before the lcd screen goes, that would be a bummer!!

I would suggest not doing anything to it! A lot of companies will not honor a warranty if you try to fix it yourself. I would send it back to the company ASAP!!

Don't forget to back up all your stuff that is important to you first before you send it anywhere! I hope your laptop has a CD Burner on it. Mine doesn't - it's almost 5 years old, but still runs all the up-to-date software great. All I've had to do was replace the hard drive. It's an HP.

If you do have things on it that are important & need to be backed up & don't have a CD burner on your laptop, then you could probably find someone on here that has a USB CD Burner. I have one I use in case of these kinds of emergencies.

If its under warranty, don't do anything. If you need help backing up, say the word.

What brand/model laptop?

I just figured out who you are. :)

Just go grab his USB hard drive while he's not looking... lol

When you call HP for warranty, see if they'll send the parts rather than make you send in the laptop. I don't know if Flockery is comfortable in tearing apart laptops, but I am. He can tell you that. If they'll send the parts (probably just the plastic case needed) then there will be virtually no time without your computer.
