What do pinkanesha, chris tucker, thundersticks, chrissy, fark.com, Marta, mustang65, CNN, gameshow trivia, lpl, wine tasting, and Auburn University have in common ? Well let me tell you !
This past weekend mustang65 and myself met up with chrissy and pinkanesha in Atlanta for a fun packed weekend that we all needed !
It started off friday when we arrived, we made our way to a place called "Dave and Buster's". This place is like a grown-ups Chuckie Cheese .About twice the size of our supercenter we played video games to the wee hours of the morning. I suggest if you are ever over that way to stop in and kill 5-6 hours. The next morning we hopped "marta" (the public transit system in the ATL) to visit downtown. First stop was the Phillips Areana. I stopped in the gift shop to pick up a gift for a bud, as I was checking out the cashier was like "Have you ever been to a Hawk's game ?" So for the price of $10.00 each pinkanesha, myself and chrissy and mustang bought tickets. Then it was on to the CNN center. This place blew my mind. It was so big and overwelming ! As we left the center, we took a morning stroll through Olympic Park. A morning full of jokes and laughter was brought to a pause as we saw where the bomb had gone off during the Olympics. As we headed towards the "underground" we got to walk downtown. This reminded me so much of home, with its skyscarpers casting shadows over the street vendors.....wait a sec, I am from demopolis. Anyway it was on to the underground. I had never been to this part of Atlanta before so this was a treat. It is like 100 stores underneith the city. As we were told the history of it by our tour guide mustang, we stopped in for some killer wine tasting. We hopped the marta back to chrissy's house we were entertained by a guy playing a guitar then it was time for an hour or two of down time and to get ready for our first NBA game the Dallas Mavericks vs. The Atlanta Hawks. We arrived back at the CNN center in enough time to grab a quick bite to eat then it was off to the game. Although our seats were considered not good by any other sports fan, we loved them ! I believe they calll it the nose bleed section. As pinkanesha became an instant Mavericks fan, chrissy and myself cheered on the Hawks. Then the anouncer came over the jumbotron and said that Chris Tucker, T-Boz and the quarterback for the Atlanat Hawks was in the house !(Sorry I don't know the quarterback's name). After pinkanesha team won, we headed back down to the CNN center. On the way mustang stopped and asked for a good place to grab a drink. The lady recommended a club called "Twains". So we hopped the marta one last time and headed towards Twains. Not 5 min after being there mustang had met a guy that was throwing a party for a website he was a member of. So we talked of Dlive and how we were all compter geeks and just had a good time. As he walkes away, I asked him the name of their site, this is when I lost it. He said "We have about 300,000 members, its called Fark.com. I was blown away, we had landed right smack dab in a Fark party. Those of you who are a member know that they have these parties all the time and people from everywhere fly in to jion. I screamed I am a member !!!!! So I met people in person that I have talked to for years ! It reminded me the so much of the first time I met dave ! I am still giddy, leagle and wyldfire (who are members know what I am talking about.) Then the four of us dinned on apple cider beer until early in the morning and caught up on some good ole' conversation. Sunday morning was a little surreal, we all knew our weekend had came to an end. So with hugs and over 400 pictures (which we will share with all of you) mustang and myself departed back towards home. Well after crossing the state line we stopped in Auburn for some Mellow Mushroom and some pics of the campus. Little did we know, that this would lead to breaking and entering and photo's that every Auburn fan will hate and every Alabama fan will love ! Then we had a quick stop in montgomery to see browneyedgirl and to bring her some leftovers from the "shroom". Finally we made it home to my comfortable bed that did not have mustang in it and slept like a king.
I will post the pics in a second. There are so many I need to weed through them and pull the bad ones.
