I wish I could offer more than I am going to but.....
This is becoming a major outbreak of severe weather but so far the area of instability and major storms is to our north and NE but it will drift to the SE during the evening and night. As storms go, it is best that it is coming thru here when the atmospheric instability will be lower.
Since the time of arrival is so hard to predict, All I can suggest is to keep the weather radio on and take any necessary action. I hope none will be necessary.
Mr. Fleming, do you really think it might hit here? I really thought it was all going north. Of course, I don't wish it on anybody, but I certainly hope it won't hit Demopolis.
We're going to B'ham in the a.m. Should that be okay?
This is just my partly educated opinion but I don't think we are going to have the severe conditions that are north of us. The area of wet/dry air should move through, probably in the early AM hours, and We may get rain and even some thunder and lightning but I think the real instability will be minimal and I don't expect severe conditions like they have now in north MS and AL (and Tenn.) I hope I am right!

Roxanne, read my answer to AngleWing. As far as tomorrow, I don't think you will have to worry about any problems between here and BHM other than maybe some lingering, aggravating showers which I hate to drive in.
I just reviewed the Storm Prediction Center's reported Tornado, Wind and/or hail reports. I have never seen that long of a list. I didn't attempt to count them but there must be between 300 and 500 reports mostly in LA, MS, AL, TN, KY. I think we are going to be lucky that the deaths and destruction is going to be minimal considering!!!!!
I have family in East Tennessee and so far....they've spent most of the afternoon and evening in their "safe" spot due to all the warnings in their area. They said the storms have been severe with damaging straight line winds, but most of the really bad stuff was west of them. From all that I gather, there have been approx. 30 deaths in Tennessee in the past week due to the severe weather outbreaks. Prayers for all those that are in the paths of these storms.
