Personal Attack on Stickman

I received an e-mail from Dave yesterday afternoon telling me someone took advantage of the Anonymous Post boards on this website to launch a personal attack on me - Stickman. I'm going to take this bull straight on by the horns! From what Dave told me in his e-mail, the post had four parts to it. I am going to address all four parts here.

The first part of the post called me out by name. For those of you who don't already know, Stickman and Scott Jones (the one who lives in Gallion, AL, NOT the Scott Jones from Linden who works for the Linden City School System and for Goodloe Sutton at the Democrat - Reporter!) are one and the same. I am not hiding behind my "screen name" to ambush or smear anyone. Anyone who knows me could read my posts, read what I write to the newspaper, or talked to me about the issues I have raised and figured out that Scott Jones and Stickman were one and the same. Several people have figured out who I am by the posts I have made.

The next item the anonymous poster stated was that he/she understands that I am engaged in a legal battle over comments I have made about the Bryan Whitfield Hospital on this website. That statement is an outright LIE! I have not said anything about the hospital, its staff, doctors, or board members in any way, shape, form, or fashion libelous or slanderous. As of this date and time, I have not been served with any legal papers, court documents, or other legal notice that I am being sued by anyone.

The third item the anonymous poster mentioned was my being fired from BWWMH. This person seemed to infer that there was something being hidden here. My response to this is if you want to know why I was fired from BWWMH, come ask me. I do not mind telling anyone who wants to know why I was fired from the Whit! I was railroaded and dealt a bad hand (to put it nicely) thanks to Danny Smith, Dereck Morrison, and Charles Nabors! If you want to know what happened, ask me! I have told several people in this town in very open public and in earshot of other people why I was fired from the Whit! I don't make any bones about it! What you (the anonymous poster) do not know is how many people came forward in my defense when they found out the Whit had fired me! Furthermore, if you (the anonymous poster) had bothered to talk to me six months after I was gone from there, I would have told you (and still will) it was the best thing that ever could have happened to me! I really didn't realize just how much that job was killing me till I got away from it and had been away from it for awhile!

The anonymous poster's fourth item was to ask for comments regarding their message. I got some comments, directed at the anonymous poster. You obviously have that cephalo-rectal inversion going on! Your vision is very "muddy"! When you get that condition corrected, get enough courage to crawl out from under that rock you're hiding under and take this post straight on by the horns, go for it! Until then, I am publicly calling you, your cowardly post, and your personal attack on me an outright baldface lie! Meantime, you can feel safe being anonymous, but I'm calling you a SPINELESS COWARD and a LIAR! You or anyone else here don't scare, discourage, or intimidate me in the least!

That which does not kill me will only make me grow stronger!

Stick, life has ways of slapping those who slapped you first. Unfortunatly for them, it tends to smack much harder when payback it pasted to the back of it.

You've replied to this "anonymous person" to graciously. This he/she seems affraid to stand like a man. Unlike you, who have handled this situation just as gentleman do.

The level of respect from other Demopolis Live Members, that we have for you and your writing abilities, skyrockets each time you refrain from being a jerk like this person. You handle it like a man should. This person is nothing. Simply nothing.

I agree with Sassy Frass. I have never known Stickman to be anything but upfront about everything. I did see that post by anonymous and thought it was very tasteless. A lot of us - as Stickman said - had figured out who he was by his posts. Regardless, this is supposed to be where you can voice your opinion without repercusions. Also, the way I see it, whatever happened at the Whit with Stickman is not really anyone's business except his.

Stickman, you responded well - much better than most of us would have.

Anyone who will not sign their name to something should not be listened to. I know we all have our little "pen names" here, but I did figure out who you were after I was on the boards for about a month. From some of the things I have posted about my job, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to figure out who I am either, if anybody cared to. Plus, anyone could e-mail most of us directly at the site. If this anonymous person won't sign their posts, they shouldn't be posting. If this person wants to address you, they need to register and sign their posts in the same way we all do.

It doesn't matter if someone disagrees with you on issues! They do not have the right to slander your character without any disagreement! I enjoy a heated discussion as much as anyone, but a one-sided discussion is just an idiot talking to himself.

While I have both agreed and disagreed with you about any number of topics, I have signed both agreements and disagreements with my DL name. I am glad Dave has decided to remove the anonymous board. To attack someone's character using the anonymous board is totally contrary to the reason it was there in the first place.

I find it funny that he put you down for "hiding behind a screen name", yet he didn't even bother to get one of those. Tsk, Tsk. Keep on keeping on, Stickman!

Stick wasn't happy I deleted the post. I did so because because the accusations were of a personal nature(not to mention false), but the name used wasn't. You can sign up for this site without ever revealing who you are. Your email remain's hidden, your screenname is whatever you choose. Obviously, if you post enough personal information, someone might recognize who you are.

When I started the anon board, it was more or less so someone could see how easy it is to post in case they had reservations about signing up. At the time we had a lot of "guests" visiting but few people registering. This isn't an issue anymore.

I want all sides and opinions voiced here. I've nor Stick have never been mad that someone disagreed with us. What I tolerate is someone making up lies about someone, especially a member of this site, just because they don't like what he or she mayy think about something.

I've probably known Stickman longer than most of you and one thing I have found is that he has an opinion on everything and if you are around him for more than 5 minutes you will hear his opinion. Keep typing Stickman.

I never have expected anyone to see everything my way. You can read or listen to what I've got to say, but you don't necessarily have to agree with it. I put issues up in front of the public to stimulate people to think. I try to bring to light issues that I think are wrong so that people who are interested can work to bring about change, such as my issues with Tombigbee Healthcare Authority / Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital and it's Administration. Obviously, I have stepped on some toes for someone to come onto this website and try to discredit me with that pitiful attempt of a post the other day. Whether it was because of my posts (or my Letters to the Editor in the newspapers) about the hospital, about E-911, the one cent sales tax, or Sassy Frass and the Child Support issue, or just a personal dislike for me I haven't a clue. I just know that whoever was responsible for that despicable post doesn't have the courage to come forward and defend what they had to say.

DHSMom took a shot at me the other day in the thread about the DHS vs FCHS football game. She called me out by name in one of her posts and in another questioned my manhood. She felt I should have come talked to Coach Goodwin face to face about some things I said in my thread. I felt like she was merely defending her husband and had misinterpreted my post. I was not wailing on Coach Goodwin or berating the DHS football team. I was voicing my opinion on my observations of the ballgame, nothing more, nothing less. She as well as some others on this website did not agree with what I had to say. That was to be expected. Did I have any hard feelings about it? NO. Am I mad at her for what she felt or had to say? NO. I was pretty harsh with BubHewwitt regarding his posts in that particular thread. I don't know BubHewwitt, I don't know what he based his comments about me on, but his comments did put me on the defensive.

To the people above who have come out in support, you have my thanks! To those who support me but can't for whatever reason come out and say it publicly, I say thanks! To those who come out and engage in discussion, whether you agree with me or not, I say thanks to you! To those who want to hide in the shadows and attack me like the coward that you are, I've said all I've got to say to you for now.

One more thing on my mind:

This website used to have financial backing from some local businesses in town. In return for the financial support, the Admins of this website provided front page advertising on this site for them. Certain individuals who have visited this site didn't agree with things being said on this site. Instead of signing on and voicing your opinions, or coming to the Admins of this site with your complaints, you chose to go to some of the businesses that supported this website and complain. Obviously, whoever complained must be of the "upper crust" from this area, because they were highly successful in influencing some of the sponsors to drop their financial support of this website. To the guilty party (or parties), you are just as cowardly, just as despicable, and just as spineless as the anonymous poster! I don't see how you can show your face in public! I really don't see how you sleep at night! That's okay though. In case you're too stupid to figure it out by now, this website will make it without your help! More and more people are looking and joining this website everyday!

To the businesses who continue to contribute financially to this website, I would like to express my thanks to you for your support! Whether you agree or disagree with what is said on this website, your support to this site is VERY much appreciated. I will make it a point to patronize your business to show my support to you in return for giving the people of this area a forum to exercise their First Amendment rights!

Demopolislive currently recieves no money from any businesses. We accepted one-time donations to the site in it's early stages (demopolis.biz) to get the site going. A site such as this one costs money to keep going. Through those donations we were able to get features such as the best messageboard system available, the Gallery, etc. The rest of the expenses come out of the pockets of the admins here. We've never had any intentions of making money from this site.

If you are an individual that wishes to see this site go away, here's what you have to do:
Create your own website that takes away all our visitors. Since we depend on nothing but ourselves to keep the site up, it's totally to our discretion what we do with it. My personal goal is for people to visit and use the site. As long as that happens, it'll be right here.

All of the original Admin's here never dreamed this site would be where it is right now. Dave, Brian, Statpat35, Bebo, Myself, and our newest Admin Stick, have all worked hard on this site, but it is the members that keep us going.

As Dave said before, we have never pocketed any money generated from our sponcers, it has all been pumped right back into the site ( as you probobly realize...THIS STUFF AINT FREE :) )

I do want to thank Stick for coming onto this site and taking so much initiative to help make DemopolisLIVE the great site it is today! As Stick said.....WE DON'T WANT EVERYONE TO AGREE! That is the point of the discussions, to view all sides and views.

Scott aka Stickman, I have very much enjoyed ALL of your posts and editorials in the past. I have agreed with almost all of your opinions. I also know that what you have said about the Whit is true. I agree. Stickman always brings things to the forefront that we may never know otherwise. We all have differing opinions on things and that is what makes this site interesting. I have learned a lot since finding this site.

FreckleButt, your profile says you are "Homegrown in Demopolis" but live in Atlanta. Obviously you have not lived in Demopolis for quite some time and are completely out of touch with what has gone on in Demopolis since you've been gone.

The fact that you are in cahoots with "Does It Matter" aka Denny Baynham is another indicator of just how "credible" your "information" is.

I support the free flow of honest opinions, and the ever loving right to disagree with them. I would say to you, Frecklebutt, to express an opinion other than your dislike for Stickman. Obviously, you disagree with his assessment of our hometown hospital. Great!! Now, be so kind as to tell us why. If you have read ALL of Stick's posts, you would have read where he's complimented the hospital's progress as of late. Actually, the hospital is an old topic here.
