HWY 80 is Ca-razy
Anybody thought of how horrible traffic is going to be once the opposite side of 80 between the Walnut and Maria intersections starts being developed? ... We're going to need some MEDIANS! Otherwise people are going to be running head-on into each other in the middle free-turning lane...
That traffic work will be a pain in the butt.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll ever see medians on that part of Hwy 80, in fact there has been talk from time to time about taking out the medians that are out there now. From Lake Ln all the way to Old Springhill Rd.
Now that may never happer either, but with the talk of removing those, I don't thing they will be putting any in on the far west side.

Then how are people going to be able to turn into place that will be built on the side across from Walmart, etc... will people have to stop in one of the 2 lanes & wait to get into the middle lane to turn?

Re: HWY 80 is Ca-razy
For example...
First let's set up our coordinates... let's say you're heading toward Livingston on 80. Once you've gotten past the last light on 80 (at the intersection with the gas station, robertson banking branch, pruitts...
you want to turn left.. so you get in the middle lane right after the red light... somebody coming towards you wants to get into the turning lane to turn onto maria... oops... head-on collision...

Wouldn't they be able to use the turn lane in the middle?

what if someone is already in the lane coming towards you wanting to turn the opposite direction??? will you have to wait for them to get past you or turn... and then get over? ... you'd have to stop in the next-to-the-middle lane.. and wait... otherwise you have to keep going & turn around

Re: HWY 80 is Ca-razy
Demopolis will probably end up looking like Alberta (Tuscaloosa).. a red light every 30-50 ft. on Hwy 80

What do people do now, they stop in the road to turn, which is what they will probably do when that gets developed more. Also remember, that is all STATE not city.
