i have a ti 86 graphing calculator for school and i got some formulas and a periodic table among other things and so i used those instead of memorizing stuff. so i was working the other day in AShell and i accidentally put a password on it. so i tried to take it off but my calculator did not like that. so the screen went white. i turned the contrast up and the screen said MEM CLEARED DEFAULTS SET i was mad. i need that stuff to pass geometry and science so is there away to recover the mem? or a site where i can just type in the code to make another table. the formulas are easy but the table wont

you want people on the site to help you cheat :) ????
I'll tell you how to fix it after finals...

I had to memorize and then forget the periodic table for chemistry in highschool... you should have to also... it's not fair otherwise.
then I get to college and I had to memorize and forget it AGAIN...

Because I have no practical use for it.... after I've taken the test, and finished with the class -- I don't have any reason to remember the symbols, names, or numbers. I'm not a chem major -- I'm a math major & a computer information systems major... no chemistry involved :-)
You know -- "use it or lose it"... didn't use it -- so i lost it.
I was just racking up science credits... 11 hours in physics (physics I, II, III) and 4 hours in Chemistry I.

That is an old periodic chart of the elements......you need to upgrade! And it is a good thing to know what the elements are and when they are combined what molecule they make. For example, when your daughter eats something that says NaCl (Sodium Chloride) on the bottle, and you're like........................OMFG what the heck did she eat!!!! And you call the poison control center and they say that she just ate some table salt, you won't feel like a complete dumb @$$. It is always good to learn and compile as much "useless" knowlege as possible.....it may save your life one day or the life of someone you love. DAMMIT....this is J. Flockery sorry my wife was logged into my laptop.

That was actually me in the last post, not my wife. And for the calculator problem, you probably won't be able to get anything that you cleared from its memory. You probably can search the net for pre-made formula's for the TI-86 or other texas instrument calculators. They are fairly popular calcs so it shouldn't be that hard to find. I have an Hewlett Packard GX calc that I used in college. It was a life saver. I think everyone should be able to use a calculator, screw memorizing all the junk. I find that I learn better by using a calculator. You retain more of the more useful information because you aren't worrying about spitting out all the crap you're having to memorize.

Well, Too much salt can pose a health risk. LOL. But Poion control said I would be ok and that a side effect was thrist.

yeah but other than NaCl and H2O... what do peope really know?
I know several of the acids, the inerts, and I still know all the symbols even today (thanks to my trivia addiction).
I like my TI-89. Symbolic operations. Calculus, Differential Equations, etc etc etc. It even has Flash Apps on it.

Ok what is element 120? without looking on the net or other sources, only using your brain.

HTO=Water...that has to be the best thing I've read today! H20.
Actually, I had a calculator that got me through high school and alot of college. It died on me during a calculus midterm. For those that know me really well, I never quite recovered from the death of the calculator during calculus! And by the way, it isn't cheating, it is "resource utilization"!

Yeah that's what I call it also -- utilization of a very helpful resource.

good job for passing... now you get to forget all that crap right? lol... is it chemistry or a math class?
I have 3 TI calculators now... beause I'd lose one, and then I HAD to have one for my calculus 3 test ... or for my linear algebra test or I wouldn't be able to pass... so I've done that twice.... I should sell two of them on ebay... or announce them here. two TI-89's & one TI-86. both good graphing calculators in good condition. I'll make a post on trading post soon. Around time for school to start back... some high school person taking trig, alg 2, or calculus could find it very very helpful.

Geometry I, off to 10th grade!
Your TI isn't going to be much help in Geometry... but Geometry is easy / fun... you actually see (visually) what is going on and you learn a little formal logic when you start doing your own proofs. Good luck
