SEX Offenders in Marengo County

I was watching an episode of Law & Order SVU tonight that had to do with sex offenders and gave me the idea to check out the Alabama Department of Public Safety's website for sex offenders in Marengo County. We have one in demopolis and one in Linden on here!

I agree, that was a great idea. I find it hard to believe that just between the two counties that I looked at, I knew two people that were on there ---and I didn't even know that they were listed as sex offenders.

There are actually some names not on the list that should be. Hummm, makes me wonder if they registered.

I was shocked to see someone that i know of on the list. I mean i dont know the guy personally but once knew of him and his family and it is a great surprise to me.

Just to set the record straight, the person you have referenced has never been convicted of a sex crime. Therefore, he is not considered a sex offender and does not have to register with the local law enforcement agancies nor will he appear on the sex offender website.

I have seen all (except what has been sealed by juvenile court) of his records in the Demopolis Municipal Court and Marengo County Circuit Clerk's Office. There are no sex crimes cases (convictions, nol prossed cases, acquittals, not guiltys, or otherwise) in any of his files.

I may hammer on this person for other stuff he does or has done, but a sex offender he is not.

On Alabama's Sex Offender Website, don't forget to check Hale County for the registered sex offenders for Gallion and Faunsdale areas. Check Perry County for the ones from the Uniontown area. For some reason or other, not all sex offenders are registered on this site. There are a couple of people I know have committed rapes and child molestations that are not registered on this site. It's a shame the State doesn't do a better job of maintaining this site.
