I think that it will be really hard to win in Jordan Hare but we have done it the past two times we have played there. First of all Shaud has to have a huge day and the caddy must be garaged to win this one. It can be done and as Huge Bama Fan I believe thy will shall be done. Bama 17 Auburn 14

I don't think Auburn is goin to roll over and die here. Tubby will open up the offense, and the defense will show up again.

Auburn 24
Alabama 10

WAR EAGLE!!!

BOO AUBURN :)

Every year it is a bit of family rivalry between me (The BAMA fan :) ) and my brothers Brian and David (The Auburn fans  )

I think bama will come out on top (of course) even though they haven't played up to par for most of the season. As everyone knows all bets are off in the Iron Bowl.

Jordan Hare will be painted with Crimson and White this year!

Jeff I know how you feel. I married into a whole family of god-for-saken Auburn fans. Although I have been able to convert my wife to our side

The Iron Bowl was a football game played in Birmingham, the then
Steel City. The tickets were evenly split between Auburn and Alabama, making it truly a 'Bowl Game". Saturday's game is one of a regular home and away series. There is no "Iron Bowl" any more.

There is no way anyone can claim Birmingham to be a "neutral" site. It was basically a home game for Alabama justa litle farther up the road. Compared to Tuscaloosa or Auburn, it's a crap stadium in a crap location.

For Bama to win they must take a line from a Clint Eastwood movie when he told his primate to "Scrap the Caddy". He will be well tuned for this run.

Well personally I think bama aint got a chance against Auburn. Tommy will provide something good as usual and not dominate but control the tempo and game. Tigers 28-17.

Legion Field in Birmingham is an Alabama field, not a neutral one. Before Bryant Denny that was where everything was. I don't see how playing in Birmingham would make it any less advantageous to either team. And I agree with Dave, Legion Field is horrable. If you ever sat in the student section you would know what I mean!

well there are 2 teams that havent been doing their best this season, and if the bama defence can keep the caddy in the back field their chance of winning will increase but if not they dont have much hope. I hope Bama can pull it out, but they need to do alot more than they have been doing to accomplish this goal.

I'm not arguing that Birmingham was a neutral site. Shug Jordan dubbed the game as the "Iron Bowl" because it was played in Birmingham (then known as "The Steel City"), and the tickets were issued to Auburn and Alabama on a 50/50 basis as in a bowl game. I'm just saying that the term "Iron Bowl" should be dropped, and the game should be referred to as the Auburn Alabama football game.

I see what you're saying L.F. - but you know how once a tradition starts, it's hard to change things associated with it, especially the name!! Also, Iron Bowl sounds better.... Auburn/Alabama football game is too bland for such a rivalry!!

dave

You are correct as to why the game is called the Iron Bowl. I believe though the name should stay. What else would you call it?

Im just making the point that Au was supposed to be Number one this year and look where they are. Music City Bowl bound
My point is that they can not win a national championship. No matter who was on the team.

Tubberville will most likely be fired by next week. Replacements seem to be few and far between since Petrino pulled his name off the table. The front-runner at this point looks to be Jimbo Fisher, but that's just speculation.

Until Bama get back better than Auburn, Bama fanatics should chill with the Tiger bashing. It seems where things stand now, Alabama is striving for mediocraty whereas Auburn is settling for it.

Here's the story of the week: 4 year Auburn student transfers to Alabama for graduate school and to be with his girlfriend. Student becomes a cheerleader. Student gets interviewed by ESPN and is convinced to say "War Eagle" for the camera. Now it seems Mal Moore has kicked him off the squad, and the school is stripping his scholorship? There's the reason Alabama didn;t win!! The guy cheerleader!! Give me a break.

Jeff
11-26-2003, 10:39 AM
Yea I thought this was realy ridiculous too. The thing is a bunch of pissed off boosters after the game went to Mal Moore and President Robert Witt complaining about what the man said.

Bama should not allow their program to be run by the boosters. This "incident" is completely harmless and I think it is ridiculous that they would even consider kicking the man off the squad for saying war eagle. All he did is show some sort of respect for both teams, the same way I do. Granted I am a Bama fan, but I am not ashamed to yell war eagle when Auburn plays someone.

The people at the athletic office need to get over it and reinstate this guy immediately. My question is would he have been kicked off if Bama had won???

We had a bad season this year. I'l give you that. But there a lot of circumstances that put us there. But the thing is that we will be back. If we had been picked to go to a BCS Bowl and then had as horrible of a season as that I would also be furious. But look at the pattern. Auburn had Bo. No national title there. Now they have Williams. No national title once again. I know they beat Bama but they got beat by GA Tech, a team that got hammered by DUKE!!!

Oh yea that stupid cheerleader. The fact is that our cheerleaders should cheer for our team. If you love Auburn, stay in Auburn. There are too many deserving young people out there who could be on our sqaud.

dave

Takes more than a RB to win a title.

Auburn would have one the title in 93 if not for probation. Just because you're ranked high to start the season doesn't mean anything. Only 1 rag picked Auburn #1-- Most of the media had said from the beginning that LSU and Georgia would be at the top of the SEC despite Auburn's high expectations. This is the SEC-- Alabama and Auburn are expected to do great every year. As it is now, Auburn could be really great next year--unless Cadillac goes pro and Jacobs transfers. Shula will have his hands full with all the seniors leaving. in 2 years we'll know if he's a real coach or just a name.

It seems yelling war eagle is unforgiveable but getting arrested for dope is okay as long as you can pick up a few yards. They knew this cheerleader was from Auburn from the beginning so what's the big deal. The media set the poor guy up for this as a joke and now he's paying for it. I feel sorry for him because I have met him and he is really a nice guy. I have never met Hudson, so I can't comment on his character. By the way, if they kept Hudson, what did Avalos do?

Scott

Dave we have alot of seniors which is true but i am not so sure that many of them start. I can only think of 3 regular starters that were seniors. Shaud, Derrick Pope, and Dennis Alexander. I may be wrong and i will look into it but i believe that the rest of the regular starters atleast have the oppurtunity to come back if they dont go pro and believe it or not we have a couple underclassmen good enough to go pro. I'll look into the # of seniors we lose compared to the # of starters we lose

Scott

In college ball unlike High school losing seniors doesnt always equate to losing starters. In highschool you top athletes are almost always the seniors becasue they have had the 4 years of weights and training. A look at the roster shows 26 seniors of those 15 played a significant role in the season. 1 is a PK that i say good riddiance too,5 are from a decent group of WR that in all honestly will be replaced by better athletes such as Matt Cadell, Will Roach, Tyrone Prothro (all on this years roster as freshmen) and Nikita Stover the consensus top player in the state ( he is a bama commitment). We will indeed miss the likes of Shaud Williams, Derrick Pope Nautyn McKay Loescher, and several of the bakup offensive linemen. But there is incoming talent just as goodor hopefully better. Given that the recruits wont have game experience but some will be good enough to plug some holes. What will hurt worse is if those underclassmen decide to leave early because they are good enough to do so and that means a big loss at that position

I have one more thing to add about the potsmoking. Obviously Hudson had not been smoking the pot. I belive it was found in his car. After such an incident it would be hard to believe that he would not be made to take a drug test at which point if it comes back positive for THC then he would be gone for the year at the very least. See Brandon Avalos as an example, he failed one and was gone no questions asked. Mike was obviously convinced that Hudson was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Which deserved some punishment. As for the cheerleader i havent heard the story about them trying to get rid of him and if it is true it is sad, but he should not have put himslef in that situation and ESPN should not have asked the guy to show forth his loyalties one way or another on national television.

dave

My thinking is not so much the talent issue as the senior leadership.

There's no doubt the talent Alabama has somehow been able to keep recruiting despite the off field problems. Prothro was a 4A All world last year, known for literally causing leg injuries with his abilities to make Barry Sanders type moves running the ball. I think in Hawaii we'll see these super freshman make a big mark.

I rooting for Alabama to win this last game--despite whether you're for Alabama or Auburn, you should ALWAYS root for the SEC team when it plays out of conference. Plus, an Alabama win gives a little help to LSU who has a small chance of getting by USC in the BCS standings.

dave

My view on cheerboy-- He went to Auburn for 4 years where he was also on the cheering squad. Alabama knew where he transfered from. What was he supposed to say to the camera? I mean seriously, who even notices the guys that cheer?? Aren't they there to throw the girls up in the air?

Things are afoul in Alabama (both teams) football. My hope is in a few years we'll see the day when Auburn and Alabama go into the Iron bowl both ranked in the top 5.

Don't know about Avalos, but the cheerleader thing is B.S. all the way.The reporter did set him up for that and I don't see why he has to pay for it.I'm a Bama fan but this is crazy because it is messing with a man's education. This is a university, sports should come second. And Dave, about the "title year in'93" that Auburn had that probation problem, probation sucks don't it?
