Alday acts like a child

Did anyone read the article about the Linden council meeting in the Democrap this past week? The way I read it was that during the meeting there was a vote on giving the police dept. a $1.00/hour raise, For whatever reason councilman Ivan Alday was aginst the $1.00 raise. The votes were cast and it passed 4-2. (It was no secret on how the mayor would vote). After the vote Alday ask for a motion to recend the last vote and give some sort of merit raise. After that his motion died for a lack of a second. Here is the problem that I have, It was at this point that Alday got childishly mad, snatched up his papers and left the meeting before it was over. I do not think this is any way for a councilman to act, even if he does not get his way on an issue. If he is going to act like this I think he should be ask to step down from his seat, before he makes the entire Linden council look bad. Did anyone else read this, and what is your thoughts.

I read the article. Alday actually tore up his papers and slammed them into the trash as he left.

His request was for officers with 2 years service get $1 raise, and those with 1 year get $.50. There was no motion for those 1 year officers that would recieve $.50 would also recieve the other .50 cents when their 2 year anniversary came around. It appeared to me that it was Alday's attempt to limit police money without just flat refusing to give the police in Linden any money. He's also been reported to say that "Money won't solve the police department's problems".

I'm not sure what problems they are referring to. From what I've seen. Laduron, McClure and the rest of the force had done a good job in LA. Alday's actions were embarassing to the Linden Council; especially considering the stance he was attempting to take.

I read the report in the Democrat also. I thought Allday's actions were quite childish myself. I don't know if the recent events in his personal life factored into this display or not. Regardless, this is not the behavior a city councilman would be expected to display in a council meeting. Is this the kind of representation his constituents or the citizens of Linden expect of him? I would hope not. I hope whatever bee is in his bonnet leaves soon so he can get his mind back on the city's business and not have anymore of these outbursts in a council meeting.
